If you’re a fan of New Orleans, you’ll love staying in this fantasy oasis in the town where the movie Groundhog Day was filmed. The Mardi Gras House, like the City of Woodstock, is diversity-friendly, welcoming people of all races, nationalities, and sexual orientations. Enjoy a luxury experience where you feel at home while enjoying the beauty and excitement of your unique surroundings. Guests often say their stay at the Mardi Gras House was a significant part of their traveling adventure. The Mardi Gras House dates to 1912 and has been lovingly restored with indoor gaslights and other exquisite architectural details. Rooms include a 1920s French dress shop, 1890s New Orleans brothel and séance room, 1930s Art Deco movie palace, and a railroad-themed jazz lounge. Luxuriate in the New Orleans Room with a full-sized antique bed, life-size Mardi Gras jester created by the crafts-persons at Kern Studios who build the Mardi Gras floats, and photos of New Orleans gracing the walls. Amenities include your own private high-end marble and onyx bath/spa with soaking tub and shower. A fabulous cook’s kitchen awaits you as well, shared by you and your hosts, Craig, Debbie, and Kendri. Be as secluded as you like or join in salon-style conversations with your hosts. The Mardi Gras House is two blocks from the historic Courthouse Square, Woodstock Opera House, Ethereal Event Space, and Woodstock Square, boasting shopping, dining, live entertainment, and an eight-screen movie theater. On and around the Square, visit the numerous sites where Groundhog Day was filmed. The Mardi Gras House is also two blocks from the train station where trains run every other hour to and from Chicago. Save your fair to the French Quarter and stay with us, or come from the French Quarter and feel right at home!
Craig is a warm and friendly host who offered to pick me up at the train station, which was only a few blocks from his lovely home. The house is gorgeous, inside and out, with beautiful, unique furnishings. The Orleans room where I stayed did indeed remind me of my stay in New Orleans with its Mardi Gras and jazz/carnival themed accessories. The bed and pillows were very comfortable; there's even a white noise machine to help provide privacy and a peaceful night's sleep in case there is any conversation from other guests in the house. The bathroom was the loveliest of any I've seen in all my travels. Perfectly clean (with no annoying chemical or floral smells) and plenty of soft fluffy towels . Craig's house is on a quiet street in a beautiful residential neighborhood just steps away from the town library, and a five minutes' walk from both the church I wanted to visit and the varied and lovely shops in picturesque Woodstock center.
Craig was so welcoming and staying at his house is a truly unique experience. He’s put so much care and detail into his beautiful house and goes above and beyond to make you feel at home.
We stayed at Craig’s home for a quick weekend trip for a wedding, but man do I wish we could have stayed longer! The home is impeccable, truly a work of art, down to every little detail. Great amenities, perfect location, & better yet, the hosts are incredibly kind & personable, making you feel right at home! Came for the airbnb, now we’re leaving with new friends & a wonderful experience! Thank you Craig, Debbie, & Kendri!
What an eclectic home and experience! Who knew I would find a New Orleans vibe with its very own speakeasy in Woodstock, I’ll. Craig, Kendri and Debby were very charming and inviting. Would highly recommend. Connie
This house is bananas. I knew of the place because my sister and brother-in-law are friends with the owner but that was the the extent of my knowledge of the New Orleans house. Stunning and jaw dropping is how would describe this meticulously curated home. I have never been to NOLA, but this gave me a distinct peak into what it might be like to visit the Big Easy. Craig, Deb, and Kendri are impeccable, thoughtful hosts. We even met some of their local friends, which was a lovely addition to a quaint weekend with family. We’ll be back!
Private bedroom, semi-private bath, shared kitchen, spa/sauna, gym, living rooms, dining room, and theater.
