Welcome to The Fox Den, a cozy retreat nestled on a 12-acre property just minutes from downtown Richmond. This accessory dwelling unit offers a serene escape with modern amenities. Enjoy coffee on your large, screened-in front porch overlooking the private valley and forest where deer often hang. Fast WiFi, full kitchen, no TV. Ideal for a single person or couple looking for a furnished mid-term stay. Baby, child and pet friendly. Must love nature. Enter through the large screened-in porch that overlooks the forest and valley. There are two chairs and a table on the porch, great for morning coffee with a view. Catch a glimpse of the deer, who often hang out in the valley around sunrise and sunset. Walk into the living room area where there is a nice faux leather couch, two swivel chairs and a live edge coffee table. The built in booth area is great for enjoying a meal, which you can cook in the full kitchen. Enjoy listing to records on the record player or grab a book to read from the shelves. The primary bedroom includes a queen bed and there is a flex room that includes a twin bed. There is a closet in each room, as well as built in drawers in the primary. The Jack-and-Jill bathroom has a very small standing shower. Fair warning: This might not be the most comfortable if you are larger in stature. The full kitchen includes a refrigerator, oven/stove, and dishwasher. There is an island with two stools and butcher block counter top. We call this guesthouse “The Fox Den” because there was a family of eight foxes who lived under the porch when we first purchased the property. The six kits would play and sunbathe out front. They were such a joy to watch from afar. The fox family decided to move on after a few months, but we hope they return again one day! Designed by your host, Katelyn Almeda
The property is on the edge of a very quiet residential neighborhood in Henrico County. There are not any local businesses/restaurants within the neighborhood, but there are plenty just a quick drive away.
I95 borders the property, which makes it very convenient and fast to access Richmond.
Fun fact: Our property is technically not a part of any neighborhood. On a map though, we are neighbors with Chamberlayne Farms!
Driving distance, give or take...
- 12 minutes to downtown Richmond
- 10 minutes to Carytown & Scott's Addition
- 13 minutes to VCU
- 20 minutes to Richmond International Airport
- 2 hours to D.C.
A car is highly recommended. This area is bikable, but not walkable, to local businesses. Uber and Lyft are readily available & typically cost about $15 to get to downtown Richmond.

My home base is Richmond, Virginia although I lived in San Diego and San Francisco for a while. California will always hold a special place in my heart. I work from home, and travel often. As a guest, I'm a sucker for unique spaces full of character: treehouses, earth homes, boats, geo domes. The weirder, the better! Back in the day, I was a Tour Manager on the Vans Warped Tour. I still love to go on road trips, and work large-scale music festivals for fun. My longest road trip was a month around both islands of New Zealand. It was gorgeous! Miss Libby is a lovely Richmond home that I purchased in 2015. She has a lot of historic charm, which is what attracted me to her! It is so fun to share Miss Libby with travelers. Richmond has a ton to offer. I hope others enjoy the house, neighborhood, & city as much as my family has!
