Didn’t offer the experience expected, wouldn’t recommend. Food- Breakfast terrible. Both days morning meals didn’t taste good & were literally swimming in a pool of water. Second day we waited 1.5 hours between courses with no communication. Worst breakfasts of three week break. Culinary experience underwhelming. Only first course was explained, rest of show boring. Other dishes only ok. Activities- Rasta tour amazing, best food & experience we could ask for. Bees disappointing, very short & no honey. Annoyed we asked for wood carving in advance, on site Mark said he’d sort then disappeared & Alicia was dismissive when followed up so we didn’t get to do. Customer service- Poor. Mark polite, but unavailable. Alicia welcoming at first then rude. Staff nice, owners let their own woes get in the way of work. Accommodation- Nice location but rooms smelly & unclean. Pool & surroundings great. Vibe- Not what you expect. Low energy tourist trap. Don’t bother staying just do rasta tour.

This is a duplicate review for the two cabins we stayed in. I stayed at Zimbali Retreat for 2 nights with 3 family members. I recommend Zimbali as a unique opportunity for the traveller who wants to get away from the tourist scene and experience a taste of Jamaican culture. Mark, Alecia and the Zimbali family/team were very welcoming. The team includes several dogs that you may see around from time to time. Aside from barking to alert when someone is at the front door, they are very calm and add to the serenity of Zimbali. We stayed in Suites I and II which shares an adjoining balcony which is nice for a family. One of the two Suites had a twin bed as well as a double bed which would have made it convenient to add a third person to our room. The interior of our rooms were beautifully decorated with a mix of island decor and pieces by talented local artists. This theme carried through to the common areas as well. The mood is very relaxing and peaceful. There is a swimming pool and gift shop onsite. Aside from the activities that you book, there aren't a lot of other things to do onsite. Of the activities available onsite, we chose the Rasta hike with Fiyah and the farm to table cooking show with farm tour. The one mile Rasta hike was at times a little challenging (but doable) for the retirees amongst us as the uphill trek was muddy in some spots, however there are plenty of things to hold onto to aid with the hike. Also, we had tour guides (Buju and Indio) that gave support to make the hike a lot easier and fun. It was well worth it for the visit with Fiyah and the delicious meal he prepared for us. The farm to table cooking show includes a farm tour (Unfortunately, we couldn't take the farm tour due to rain.) & 5 course meal prepared with fresh ingredients from the farm served with wine. It was educational, and the food was amazing. My family members recommend both experiences. We plan to visit again the next time we are in Negril.
