We made some last minute changes with our Memorial Day weekend plans and decided to check out Smith Island. It was beyond expectations! Jemma picked us up from the ferry in her golf cart and helped get us aquatinted to her beautiful home and the island. Coffee from the local roaster was delivered when we arrived and was super delicious! Fresh chicken eggs had also been dropped off! Beyond the great house, the island is a pretty special place. We took the canoe out everyday and got to see over 44 species of birds! Jemma was so nice and one of the best AirBnB hosts we’ve had! Could not recommend staying at her oasis on Smith Island more!

Jemma’s place in Smith Island was the retreat we needed. The home has charming details with an artistic touch. The amenities are very comfortable and there are plenty of windows and light to appreciate the island’s beauty. The trip entailed a ferry from Crisfield to Smith Island, walking around their quaint neighborhoods, kayaking to the reserves, biking down the Marsh Trail in awe of the wildlife all around, learning about Smith Island origins and hopes.. Smith Island is now one of our most favorite places on the East. We hope to visit again sooner than later.

Our little family had an absolute ball at Jemma's. She helped us so much with her detailed and fun pre trip communications. We were able to rent a kayak and feel confident about the boat arrangements. The house was totally our style and the tub in the living room was amazing. We enjoyed the local women's cooking especially Kim, the fresh coffee by Aram, the antique shop, and the boat ride by captain Steve. Our baby had so much fun playing with the toys and we were very pleased with the upstairs balcony which was good to avoid the insects. We went during some very hot days but stayed cool while in the house. Loved our getaway, will return with the extended family!
