In an awesome position, on the edge of a crofting community, Longa House has the most stunning vista of any property in Scotland. Standing on the deck looking out, sitting in the living room by the woodburner, or gazing out from the mezzanine viewing lounge, time and time again you’ll be taken aback by how awesome this setting is. The views are constantly changing as weather systems sweep past from the Atlantic beyond. You won’t want to leave Longa House, but we urge you to get out exploring the amazing local area. Some of the best scenery and landscapes in Europe are on the doorstep of Longa House. On the North Coast 500 route, Gairloch itself is worth spending some time in. Close by is a the trip north to the lighthouse on the edge of Loch Ewe, base for the north atlantic fleet in the second world war with many historical remnants. South, along the coast to the sheltered harbour of Badachro and beyond to the glorious Redpoint Beach where What We Did on Our Holiday was filmed. A little further afield you must tour the roads to Torridon, past the magnificent Torridon mountain range, Applecross, with the steepest climb in the UK, and north to Ullapool and beyond to Assynt. There are hills to walk and mountains to climb, as well as castles to find and beaches to comb. This is a nature lover’s paradise. Sheep and cattle roam freely; bird-life is abundant, gannets diving in the loch and white tailed eagles in the hills; otters and pine martens can be spotted if you are lucky and a great variety of cetaceans with dolphins often in the loch and minke whales further out. Boat trips on the loch fishing and bird spotting, including to the famed bird colony on the Shiant Islands. After days out exploring you’ll be looking forward to returning to Longa House, and not just for the location and views. The accommodation itself is finished to a great standard. When you pull up at the house there’s parking for six cars and you’ll likely enter through the back door which goes into the brilliant drying and laundry room. Along a corridor, there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Emerging from this area, you really experience te power of Longa House, the open-plan kitchen/dining room leads to the lower living room that juts out towards the sea and enjoys views all around with its floor to vaulted ceiling glass windows. You’ll gravitate to this living room, sit by the fire and gaze to the views whatever the sea state and weather. The kitchen is well equipped, with a larder room attached and the dining room can comfortably seat sixteen adults. There’s a cosy sun porch off of the dining room facing east that’s perfect for morning coffee. Up on the first floor of Longa House there are another four bedrooms, one of which is en-suite. There’s also another bathroom and a study area. The pièce de resistance though is the mezzanine viewing lounge which is yet another place for you to gravitate to. The views with a sundowner in hand from the mezzanine are somehow better than anywhere else! Outside, there’s a fantastic decking that makes the most of the tremendous views. Attached to a side decking there is a sauna which can seat 6 with windows on to the sea. Enjoy this at dark, cooling under the most amazing star-lit sky. There’s plenty of space with lawn wrapping around the house and a barbecue for outdoor eating. From the garden, there’s a little gate through which you can follow a dusty track a couple of minutes down to the beach. Long House is a true beach house. Longa House is an exceptional coastal holiday home overlooking Loch Gairloch and set within a crofting community on the famous North Coast 500 route. From the double height windows there are panoramic views south to the Torridon mountains, west to the Cuilins of Skye and north west to the Outer Hebrides of Harris and Lewis. Whether you’re standing on the decking, sitting in the lounge by the woodburner or gazing out from the mezzanine viewing lounge you will be amazed as the weather systems sweep past from the Atlantic beyond. Some of the best scenery in Europe is on your doorstep, whether heading north to the Lighthouse near Loch Ewe where the North Atlantic Fleet was based during WW11, or south along to Badachro’s sheltered harbour and on to Redpoint where ’ What we did on our holidays’ was filmed. Driving through the Torridons and over the UK’s steepest climb to Applecross or north to Ullapool and Assynt you’ll be speechless. This is a nature lover’s paradise as sheep and cattle roam freely, seeing gannets diving in the Loch or sea eagles in the hills, spotting otters and pine martens and dolphins in the Loch or taking a boat trip to see minke whales further out near the bird colony on the Shiant Islands. Longa House itself is finished to a high standard with parking for six cars. Entering the back door brings you to the laundry/boot room, with four bedrooms and two bathrooms along the corridor. Emerging from here you enter the open-plan kitchen/dining area leading to the lower living room that juts out towards the sea and enjoys floor to ceiling views from the vaulted glass windows. The well-equipped kitchen with adjoining larder room provides storage and the dining room comfortably seats sixteen adults. A cosy sun porch facing east from the dining room is perfect for morning coffee. Up on the first floor there are another four bedrooms, one of which is en-suite. A further bedroom and a study/games area provides plenty space for larger family groups. The unique mezzanine viewing lounge on this upper floor is just the place for a sundowner in hand to enjoy the spectacular seascape views and hear the waves lapping below the house. Outside the decking surrounding the main living area provides ample seating area to make the most of the landscape. Around the corner the Sauna seating six has windows overlooking the sea, Longa Island and Skye. Enjoying this at dark, cooling under the amazing star-lit sky is sensational as are the Northern Lights! The lawn wraps around the house providing space for playing and outdoor barbecues. From the garden gate, there is a dusty track which takes you down to the shore and on to enjoy the beautiful Big Sand beach. Free WiFi Can comfortably fit up to 17 people
