I am glad to share what has been my happy family home for over 40 years. My three accomplished children were raised here in the midst of Tucson’s extraordinary wealth of natural beauty and cultural richness. I have enjoyed high standards at Airbnbs all around the world, and I have been diligent in applying those standards here. In making this home available I took out anything personal and left behind all that you will need for a great visit. There are so many intriguing aspects to the living history of Tucson and its desert dwellers. With over 4,000 years of agricultural history, we have the longest food heritage in North America and was recently the first U.S. city recognized as a World City of Gastronomy by UNESCO. Tucson has a great “foodie” character with many intriguing and excellent restaurant destinations and a lively downtown area with a modern streetcar. The influence of the Native American and Mexican cultures is continually evident and makes the community vibrant and unique. Far more than its cultural flair, Tucson is blessed with world-class attractions. You can easily fill your days with activities such as bicycling (rated #2 in the U.S.), a world-class natural history museum, great hiking trails, golf courses, arts organizations, extraordinary annual Gem and Mineral Show, sporting events, a bustling major university, and nearby Kartchner Caverns and Old West towns of Tombstone and Bisbee. The mild climate and sunny days beckon. The sun shines here 85 percent of the time! As a longtime nonprofit executive and author I enjoy reading, writing, and my volunteer work with community organizations including The Loft Cinema and Mission Garden. I have spent my entire adult life here as an active community member, and Tucson and its people continue to enrich my life. I shall be enjoying some time at my second home in Gabarus, Nova Scotia. Visiting my children in three different cities and my family in New England leave this home vacant for part of the year. I want to share the place that has been so good to me. You will find my neighborhood is a safe and delightful place to walk, and you will feel welcomed by its friendly denizens including Harris’s hawks, roadrunners, hummingbirds, Gambel’s Quail, and other birds, bunnies, lizards, and prairie dogs. Tucson is on the migratory bath for many types of birds, and it is a joy to see who stops by on their flyovers. (Please note that I have never seen a scorpion, rattler or any poisonous snake here.) I would enjoy meeting you if I am in Tucson, but be assured that you will always have complete privacy. You are in good hands with my co-hosts Rosanna and Julia.
