Staying at Buganvilla gives you the feeling of being part of the local community in this quaint old village. One can relax by the pool or read a book on the terrace while on the outside one can still experience the real lives of the Maltese people. Having your host living downstairs sets your mind at rest! It's always a pleasure to make new friends :) BUGANVILLA’S rooms are found in a typical old Maltese House of Character in Zabbar, a village in the south of the island. Rooms have exposed stone walls and beams and come with a private shower & toilet. Air conditioning is available in Karys’ and Kim’s rooms only. Karys’ and Kim’s rooms are accessible from a terrace which overlooks the pool area. Matthew’s room is the oldest room of this house of character which goes back 500 years when it was used as a birth room. It is quite cool and a fan is sufficient. It has its own door from the road. Guests still have access to the pool, the terrace and the outdoor kitchenette. Zabbar is only a few minutes drive from the charming fishing villages of Marsascala and Marsaxlokk, where one can find numerous restaurants, bars, and pubs. Also close is the old city of Vittoriosa, with its many grand buildings, palaces, churches, and the maritime museum. Vittoriosa is also known for its restaurants and wine bars. The capital city, Valletta, is a 20-minute drive by bus or one can take the boat from Bormla / Senglea. The boat from Bormla leaves every half an hour on the hour or half past. Included in the price of the boat trip is the use of the lift which takes you to the Upper Barrakka Gardens. In Zabbar, one finds a coffee shop in a nearby square and some restaurants namely Zeffies and Posh Turkish. Nowadays, one can easily order meals through Bolt or Wolt. Wifi is free of charge.

This place is 100% better than the photos and exceeded our expectations! I took my boyfriend for his birthday and Antoinette took it upon her self to set up the room with decorations and was very accommodating and friendly, it made his birthday to come to a surprise and made our whole holiday to stay somewhere so homely and comfortable. Do yourself a favour and stay here at least one night if you do go to Malta, the place is a lot bigger than you think!

Ett härligt ställe där jag kunde koppla av helt. Jag letade efter ett lite lugnare ställe och område som inte låg mitt bland nattliv och shopping - och hittade det. Men Antoinette är det bästa med stället, hon är ovanligt omtänksam och vänlig. Hon gav bra tips på saker att göra och skjutsade mig bland annat in till Valetta. Det kändes lite som att bo hemma hos en släkting.

Mrs. Antoinette is a wonderful host. She is incredibly responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. She shared a bit about Maltese culture, drove us to one of the three historic cities, and showed us where to catch the ferry to Valletta. She welcomed us with a thoughtful gift in the fridge and made our mornings brighter with coffee. She is very kind and lovely. The accommodation looks even better in person than in the photos, and although we didn't use the pool as we wanted to explore more of what Malta has to offer, she ensured it was always clean. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful accommodation in a more local setting, with an exceptional host.

We had a delightful stay at the Buganvilla! Antoinette proved to be an exceptional host, consistently responding promptly and displaying great attentiveness. The house itself is charming, and the room is spacious and impeccably maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed our time relaxing by the swimming pool. Furthermore, the location is highly favorable, with convenient access to a bus stop that provides transportation to Valletta (approximately 15 minutes) and the three cities. Without a doubt, we would choose to stay here again in the future. We wholeheartedly rate our experience a perfect 10/10.

Het verblijf was geweldig. Veel groter dan dat je denkt en wat je ziet op de foto’s. Je kan er helemaal settelen. Ik voelde me meer thuis dan bij me ouders!

Atypical Maltese Village in the south of Malta. In 5 mins by car, you are in the 3 Cities of Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea. From Cospicua one can go to Valletta by boat. Also close to Żabbar is Marsascala and the fishermen's village of Marsaxlokk. The beautiful St. Thomas Bay is only 5.6 km away. Round the corner of Buganvilla one finds a bakery and a supermarket which are open 24hrs.

From the airport, it is ideal if you book a taxi online or rent a car. Buses from and to Valletta are frequent. There is parking available but on a first-come, first-served basis.
