It's rare to find a place that's both historic and one-of-a-kind. This cozy loft in the historic district sits above an art gallery about 3-4 blocks from the Mighty Mississippi & historic Main Street where you can walk to shops, restaurants and museums. It’s also walking distance to theaters, the farmers market and the stunning Sodalis Nature Preserve. The space is compact and the ceiling does slope down toward the T.V. & washer and dryer. Prefect for couples who spend their days exploring! The space slopes dramatically. The ceilings are very high by the front door then descend quickly to the lesser used space by the TV and washing machine. However, if that doesn’t bother you, you can escape the day's heat on the expandable couch bed that sits under the air conditioning unit. The space is simple, minimalist, and clean. The kitchenette has enough to make basic meals like sandwiches or cereal, or heat up food in the microwave. But there is no stove or oven. The studio loft is very close to the main attractions, antique stores, and restaurants in Hannibal. It’s also within walking distance to the Sodalis Nature Preserve home to the endangered Indiana Bat. Their caves (actually old mines) are federally protected so you can’t go in, but once you get to the caves you can often feel the rush of cool air coming out of them which is so nice on a hot day. It follows Bear Creek and has asphalt for a good bike ride, or a nice walk. Go at dusk and you might see the bats leave their cave as they hunt for bugs. Sodalis also has hiking trails within the preserve as well. You can follow it East and end up on Main Street, perfect for grabbing a beer and lunch. We are sometimes traveling for work, if you see some dates you’d like to rent that are unavailable ask me about them. I may have them blocked if I’ll be out of town for long periods, and I might be able to accommodate you.
we loved this stay!! private, quiet, affordable and so so cute!!! would 100% recommend this location while in hannibal
Hannibal is a gem of a location with many places to eat, drink, and shop! Don’t miss Lover’s Leap just outside of town - picturesque! Adrienne’s place met all of our needs.
This loft met my needs perfectly. It is quite a cozy space and artfully decorated and extraordinarily clean. It is walking distance to downtown restaurants, art galleries, city library, and hiking paths along the Mississippi River. I would recommend these accommodations without hesitation. Should I ever be in Hannibal again, this would be the first place I would attempt reservations. It is extremely quiet in this area except for the trains and the train horns were actually rather nice to hear.
This little loft apartment in Hannibal is everything you want out of an AirBnB experience. Friendly, responsive hosts, truly everything you need (even an electric kettle - no more making tea in the microwave (YUK)!) and the kind of design details and thoughtful additions that you only get from people who love to host. The art on the walls from the host's partner is fantastic and for sale in the gallery below. I slept like a baby in this tranquil location, lulled to sleep by the old-timey train whistle (apart from biblical storm the first night, which made being under the eaves was dramatic and exciting!) and enjoyed exploring the cute main street shops and cafes, all things Mark Twain and the riverfront park. The description mentions the slanted ceiling, but I'm 5'11'' and I did not find it troublesome in the least. Good brisket and craft beer at the Friendship Brewing Company and great coffee, snacks and gifts at Java Jive.
Adrienne was the perfect host! The guesthouse and gallery was amazing! The sites and sounds as paddle boats blew their whistles and train horns echoed the hillsides. Things I’d only dreamed of, spending time near the Mississippi and being a couple blocks from it…dreams did come true! The guesthouse was everything we had hoped for. Art from the gallery adorned the walls, very cool! Everything looked brand new, from the fridge to the washer/dryer nothing was missing and worked perfect. We had oodles of space throughout the guesthouse. “Highly Pleasing.” A very comfortable king size bed, good size bathroom/shower, fresh linens, comfortable seating, everything you’d need in a kitchen, a clean comfy environment. I could go on and on, easy walk to downtown Hannibal, truly inspiring and literally takes you back in time. We couldn’t have asked for a finer four nights stay and wishing we could have stayed longer! Adrienne thought of everything! We’re planning another stay as we shut the door!!
You’ll be in the Historic District of Hannibal! There are tons of beautiful homes being renovated and others that are waiting to be renovated. We are just 3 blocks from Main Street and the movie theatre, there is a baseball field and bowling alley just around the corner as well.
If you like walking, feel free to keep the car parked. Restaurants, bars, churches, museums-almost everything is within a mile of the house (except for a grocery store & the Mark Twain Cave/Winery)
