We had a lovely few days at Normandy Cottage. We love Runswick Bay and know the area well, so we were delighted to find this beautiful fisherman’s cottage for a break in between Christmas and new year. The cottage is right next to the pub, pretty much on the beach, and was so lovely inside with all the amenities we needed as a family of two adults and two children. We will definitely be booking again. One thing to pint out is that the bibs outside were still full when we arrived, so we had to cram our rubbish on top when we left (we hope that wasn’t a problem)! I also had a minor emergency whilst there, I had a tooth infection and needed a local pharmacist, the Levine book had a number for Whitby hospital but could benefit from a list of local gp’s and pharmacies too! Thank you for a lovely stay, highly recommend!

Whilst not our first visit to Runswick Bay, this was our first time staying here and so happy to have found our little peace of heaven. We were staying as a family, a couple with our 6 year old, we’re really happy to find the house was exactly as the pictures show. The house is right on the beach, you could hear the sea if you opened the window. Host had great communication before check in with location/check in instructions and also really responsive with a few q’s I had. The house is compact but had everything we needed, so cosy and peaceful- there was literally not a sound at night when we were in bed! We eat out a lot so kitchen was more than adequate for making breakfast. Our son had the top floor bedroom which he loved, just be mindful of steep steps. Beds really comfy and house was immaculate. Really recommend the royal hotel for food/drink with a view and also beach cafe for morning beachside coffee. Excellent value for money, priceless with the beach on the doorstep!

We'd definitely stay again while our children (X2) are young. The property is compact, but perfect for our young family and what we needed. It's a very short walk to the beach, which is exactly what we were looking for. The local pub is near the property, which is great for grabbing a drink on the way back from the beach. We didn't find the pub overly noisy at night and it didn't wake the children. The cooking facilities are basic, 2 hobs and a microwave oven, again this didn't matter to us, but something for others to be aware of. If you've never been to Runswick bay, it's lovely and this property is a good place to base yourself for a nice beach holiday, but don't tell your friends, we don't want it getting too popular.

We had no idea what we were booking. This place is so cool, you will not believe it. What a magical little historical town built into the side of a mountain. The kids ended up calling at little Italy. Definitely recommend this place. One of the highlights of our trip.
