Wake up to the sounds of macaws and wild parrots, and the distant call of howler monkeys. Catch the sunset over the Tree of Life and let the rushing river and the patter of rain on the roof lull you to sleep. In between, explore La Fortuna and the Volcán Arenal region, the Children’s Eternal Rainforest, Ciudad Quesada, or Juan Castro Blanco National Park. Or just sit back and relax on our 6-acre farm with fruiting guava, lemon, avocado, and guanabana trees and access to the river. This chalet-style house combines Scandinavian and East Asian-inspired design elements with native Costa Rican materials such as trunks of laurel and madero negro trees sustainably harvested from the property and ceiling and deck beams made of nazareno, corteza amarillo, pochote, papayo, roble coral, white and yellow almond, and cedar wood. Have a morning coffee on the deck as you take in the panoramic view of the Tilarán mountain range and the Rio San Carlos hundreds of feet below. Or drink tea while looking out at the fog through the bay window in our master bedroom. We also have a standing bar area and a piano with weighted keys.

Jessica is a fantastic host. She responds immediately and is always helpful and nice. Her place is really clean and cozy, in a very convenient location. It's close to everything yet also very quiet and private. There are lots of birds around, so it was fun just to walk around the house and watch them. We had a great stay!
Aus einer Kuhweide wurde wieder ein Stück Urwald gezaubert. Die Führung durch den Obst/Gemüsegarten war sehr lehrreich. Wir bekamen von allem eine Kostprobe. Die geräumige und vor Regen  geschützte Terrasse ist zum verweilen ideal mit Blick in den Wald und auf den Fluss. Den Vulkan konnten wir wegen des Regenwetters nicht sehen. 
Jessica’s place is truly a stunning haven in paradise. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to wake up there every morning of my stay. I was healing from a medical condition and couldn’t get out to do a lot Jessica recommended but she sent me so many cool things to do and recommendations only a local would know. I didn’t mind that I could’t get out much because I truly never wanted to leave. The views were stunning, the bed was ultra comfy, (and I’m picky about that), and there was a lovely walking trail plus easy access within a 40 min drive to all sorts of cool attractions. It became a creative writing retreat for me. I felt so inspired and the weighted keys keyboard was awesome and got a lot of good use. I was sad to leave! Thank you for such a beautiful place Jessica!!!!
This is a hidden gem nestled in the lush jungle near a gently flowing river. We stayed for a whole mouth and had a wonderful time! The spacious room exceeded all my expectations, offering both comfort and a sense of serenity. Its large windows not only bathed the space in natural light but also provided an immersive view into the verdant surroundings. The symphony of the river, complemented by the melodic calls of numerous birds, created a soothing backdrop that resonated with the soul. We enjoyed our morning coffee time look out to the foggy mountains in the balcony. The host, Jessica and her family are warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the local area, they went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and memorable. Their recommendations for local attractions and eateries were spot-on, adding an authentic. We would defiantly come back!

The house is located on a 6-acre property with access to the San Carlos river. We have almost daily sightings of keel-billed toucans, Moctezuma's oropendolas, green parrots, and multiple types of hummingbirds on our land, as well as more occasional sightings of scarlet macaws, two-toed sloths, iguanas, and howler monkeys. We are a 5-minute drive from the town of Santa Clara, which has our favorite local restaurants Happy Pub and Tico's Fogon. In Florencia, another 10 minutes away, Donde Macha is a small brewery with a local, laid-back vibe.
We recommend renting a car at the airport in San Jose or Liberia as transportation around Costa Rica is a bit complicated to arrange.
