Mikaela’s place was wonderful for a long weekend in Lake Placid. I’d definitely stay here again!
Had a great time in Lake Placid! The apartment was easy to get to, only a 15 minute walk to town, and had everything we needed. Mikaela was quick to respond, and reached out to make sure we had everything we needed.
We enjoyed staying at Mikaela's place. We were in town for the ECAC Hockey Tournament at the Lake Placid Olympic Center. We could park our car and walk into the center of town (About 1/2 mile). It was convenient to Lake Placid's stores, restaurants, and sights. Thank you, Mikaela!
Here at Hike & Ski Hideaway it feels like a little oasis among the trees (the trees and hedges help block the noise from neighboring houses) that allows one to feel relaxed, and yet close enough to downtown to explore the shops, food, and/or fun activities.
Some of the best ways to get around Lake Placid from Hike & Ski Hideaway is by walking, biking, or driving. The choice is up to you.

First, I am so thrilled to host you. I have stayed in vacation rentals within the United States and beyond. What I have learned to appreciate is a super clean space to call my home away from home. I grew up in the Fingerlakes region of New York in a small village called Groton. I attended BYU-Idaho majoring in Outdoor Recreation. During my college years I spent a number of months in Kenya volunteering at a school for abused children. I then spent time volunteering in Bali doing similar work. Prior to graduation I also served a mission in Phoenix, Arizona for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. All of these were formative development experiences. Upon my return I worked at two Vail Resorts – Northstar California Resort in Truckee, CA for the Burton Academy and Park City Ski Resort in Park City, Utah. At the start of Covid I returned to New York. I first babysat my two-month old nephew and his 3-year old sister for seven months and then worked at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals and the College of Veterinary Medicine helping take care of animals who came in for surgery, appointments, and the like, making sure the hospital was super clean and disinfected to the highest degree possible. Why is knowing these things important? First, I learned how important it is to meet people where they are at in Kenya, Bali, and Phoenix and the importance of being a positive presence for other people. I learned hospitality from one of the best – Vail Resorts. Lastly, I learned state of the art cleaning practices from my grandmother who hosted a Bed & Breakfast and who had my sisters, cousins, and me help maintain it, and from the Cornell Hospitals for Animals which follows meticulous cleaning protocols. All of these experiences prepared me to run my own vacation rental. I also hold a full-time job at a nearby mountain resort. It is a job I absolutely love! I love interacting with the people I am privileged to meet and my colleagues. You may occasionally hear or see my dogs, Indy and Oaklee. They are Golden-doodles. Indy is in training to be a therapy dog to accompany me to hospitals, nursing homes, and airports to give people love, attention, and a pick-me-up when they need it. She is super sweet, and will be thrilled with any attention you share with her should you see us walking outside. Oaklee is a year old and is my agility dog. If I’m not around, I’m most likely working or hiking with Indy and Oaklee yet always within reach and an hour or less away. Drop me a text should you need anything, anything at all.
