The lodge was ok. I thought it could have been cleaner. The toilet lid was broken and the shower mount was not secure which was annoying as it keep spinning around. In the kitchen the glasses in the cupboard were not clean, maybe from people not using them at all. But could have been cleaned for new guests. On the site from other lodges you could hear loud music and groups screaming. The cabin next door was excessively loud. But that is no fault to the cabin we stayed in.

Stayed in Portland 27. We checked in after 7pm therefore the reception was closed, all details for check in where emailed over. We never got the chance to raise our issues on the first night as the reception was closed. After what we thought was going to be a pleasant stay ended up being a very uncomfortable first night for two members of our party as they had to sleep on the floor!! the sofa bed did not have a mattress. When I rang to report this the next morning I was told I should have collected a sofa bed pack from reception on check in( like we knew this) From this I assumed you got given a mattress. I informed the receptionist we got emailed all details therefore as the reception was closed I asked should the sofa pack not have been left on the lodge as they knew we weren’t checking in via reception she did not really report to this. When I went to collect the so called sofa bed pack I was told by the receptionist she could not go and collect a sofa bed pack for me so she’d have it dropped off at the lodge. Again I was expecting a mattress. When the guy arrive he provided me with a sheet and quilt cover. I asked where the mattress was and he assumed reception would have a spare. He took photos and went to show the manager, he returned to tell us the manager reports “ that’s how they come” can I add she expected us to sleep on what I can only describe as the top of a trampoline with springs. This was not big enough for two people without a mattress and the metal bars dug in your back. I explained this and again I was informed “this is how the sofa beds come” I explained it’s dangerous without a mattress and two members of our party had to sleep on the floor. They did not seem phased by this as apparently that’s how they come so really we should have just slept on that and got on with it! I’ve since contacted the suppliers of the sofa beds as the make is clearly labels on the sofa and they ensured me ALL sofa beds COME WITH A MATRESS!!! We paid £600 to sleep on the floor. I think the staff and management really should check their lodges before allowing guests to check in and also should educate them selves and staff on how the lodges come as standard. That lodge without a mattress on the sofa bed is only a 4 berth not 6. I will be sending my complaint via email as this is not good enough. We slept on the floor and yea fair play they provided a second lodge for our Second night however they did not have a lodge big enough to cater for all 6 of us meaning our party was split up. Not idea as we have come away as a group of 6!

Lovely lodges that’s you cannot fault for cleanliness and facilities,would of expected some extra touches considering the price so that was disappointing. Lovely location,a pub bar/restaurant onsite (we only had a coffee there one morning but it was nice) pub near by and not far from York
