Now comes the best bit and why you should be here; The draw of our lovely rolling hills in Nidderdale, designated an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' by HM Govt's, Natural England. It is a walkers paradise both the two legged and four legged versions. For the fitter walkers why not try your hand at The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge which takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. For our little friends there is a fun-packed play ground just opposite the show ground which will keep them entertained for hours (there is always an ice-cream van there too!). There are tennis courts too for all to enjoy at the park. In addition, there are plenty of bridal ways and established routes for Mountain Bikers (MTBs) and of course for the road cyclists there is the infamous Greenhow Hill and also Buttertubs is not too far away both of which featured on the Tour De Yorkshire. For those who like nothing better than to browse around shops we have plenty to choose from in the local village of Pateley Bridge and further a field, there are the picturesque towns of Ikley, Skipton, Ripon, Knaresborough and of course the Spa town of Harrogate, each having their own charm and character. For the City lovers wanting to get your Harvey Nichols fix, we have Leeds with its Victoria Quarter or the charming historic York with the famous 'Shambles', as well as the Castle Walls, museums and River tours. Both Cities are only an hour away. We are incredibly lucky to have the magical 5 star Grantley Hall on our doorstep (10 minutes by car) which offers a range of culinary delights. The Shaun Rankin Michelin star tasting experience cannot be missed, neither the afternoon tea (the selection of tea is inspiring!). Then of course there is Restaurant 88 for the Pan Asian delicacies and the newly opened 'Orchard' where classic drinks combine with contemporary dining favourites to create a more laid-back dining experience. For the Gin lovers among you, we have 3 local distilleries all within a stones throw of each other and all offering unique blends. We have Harrogate Gin in Ripley, Whittakers at Dacre Bank and Slingsby's in Harrogate. So as you can see there is plenty to keep you busy! We know your staycation is an important holiday for you. We hope that Hilltop Snug has a small part to play, in making it a holiday you won't forget. We can accept requests for later check outs but we cannot always guarantee this is possible. Extensions will incur a further charge.
We had a lovely stay! The house was perfect for what we needed. Good size and perfect location for lots of different things.
Amazing place to stay, we had a lovely girls weekend away. The accommodation is well stocked with everything you might need. Really good location and the shops and cafes nearby are worth visiting. Also Lynne was extremely helpful and easy to contact both before and during our stay.
Super lovely place with great finishes in a central location. Fantastic communication running up to our stay. Sadly though we struggled with the heating. Could only change the heating by contacting the host but even when set to a cooler temperature (18 degrees) and opening the windows through the day (cannot on a night as next to the main road), the rooms upstairs were really warm every night (23 degrees plus at the start of April) which was problematic with a 6 month old. Otherwise a five star place.
We had a lovely stay with friends over the Easter weekend! The house had everything we needed, including a really well equipped kitchen with all of the basics to get us started. It is well situated in the centre of Pateley Bridge, so easy walking distance to the local shops, pub etc. A nice play park for children in the village too. A great base to explore from!
Pateley Bridge, is the largest town in the Yorkshire Dales and very much alive!
There are many amenities including, pubs, restaurants, take-aways, butchers, bakers, fish mongers, pharmacy, post office and petrol station. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the river Nidd and the open countryside of the Yorkshire Dales, perfect for walkers and dog owners. Also, the local park is only a 5-10 minute walk too so perfect for small children and families. The local business are thriving and very friendly. The are local galleries and craftsmanship including Claire Baxter our resident local artist. The local area is very popular with road cyclists and formed part of the famous Tour De Yorkshire route. There are plenty of bridleways for mountain bikers too. If you enjoy horse riding there is also a riding school where you arrange a local hack to enjoy outdoors.
There are two dedicated, off road parking places for our customers in front of the house. One has an electric charging station.
If more parking is required there are plenty of car parks in Pateley Bridge the nearest being a 5 minute walk away. Some are pay and display though.
There are buses that run to Harrogate and Ripon daily if you prefer to take a day off driving and enjoy the scenery on offer.

I spent many holidays in Pateley Bridge with my parents. As an adult, I find myself drawn back to the peace, joy and tranquillity this AONB offers. So we created our first holiday let in an area which truly holds a very special place in our hearts, Hilltop Snug.
