We really liked this Airbnb. It felt homey, peaceful, and the surroundings were just wonderful. Seeing the chickens gently clucking through the kitchen window and feeling the fresh breezes through bedroom windows upstairs were a highlight. I would definitely stay again! The upstairs bathroom felt very comfortable and spacious. Downstairs bath was a bit cramped with limited counter space, and there are steps down to the kitchen and bathroom and one bedroom, in case you have someone with limited mobility like we did. Also, the laundry room felt a little grimy. Those were the only drawbacks. We walked down to the James River and found a turtle !!

The house was great for what we needed. It was spacious and clean. It is not far from Williamsburg and Jamestown. It is not walkable, but just a short drive. The kitchen is very large and there is a nice backyard off of the kitchen. The only thing I would have changed was check out time. Check out time is at 10 am and there are several check out steps required prior to leaving. Overall it was a great place to stay, and I would be happy to go back!

We had a wonderful stay at the Colonial Retreat! Great location, so close to all the area’s history. The house was clean and comfortable. Of note- the pillows were fantastic as was the water pressure in the shower. The chickens were so cute and such a great bonus.

Emily & Wilson were great hosts, very responsive & did everything they could to ensure we had a perfect stay, including supplying a new iron & board to press shirts etc for the wedding of our niece. Colonial Retreat is a very comfortable home with everything you could want on holiday. Beds incredibly comfortable, excellent showers & plentiful hot water. Lovely space to sit & chat! Kitchen equipped with everything you might need.... the porch overlooks trees and a big green where deer collect in the evenings. For bird watchers we counted 22 different species singing in the "Dawn Chorus" - amazing. Highly recommend this place, thank you!

Our family of 5 enjoyed this home for a long weekend. We brought our two dogs. It did rain all weekend and had rained the week prior so it was impossible to keep the pups feet clean from the muddy backyard. We enjoyed the amenities and watching the chickens. So did the dogs. Emily and Wilson were very responsive and easy to communicate with. So close to my sisters house and would stay again.
