Castello is a typical stone built villa immersed in the Tuscan countryside. The Villa is surrounded by its own working vineyard and has a large private pool with views on the forest & vines. There are 4 bedrooms and an additional sofa bed, accommodating up to 8 adults, perfect for family holidays. Enjoy the view and stargaze from the many terraces, cook up a storm in the traditional pizza oven, explore the surroundings or simply relax and play by the pool! The Villa consists of a hallway, living room with fireplace, kitchen with dishwasher and fireplace and a bedroom / office with sofa bed on the ground floor. The sofa in the living room turns into a spacious double bed. At the front of the house you'll find the main south facing covered terrace and pizza oven. This is an amazing space to spend time and share meals throughout the day. On the other side of the house, there is an open terrace with amazing views of the valley which is perfect for stargazing and sipping evening drinks while watching the twinkling lights of the town below. The first floor hosts the master bedroom featuring a king size bed and an ensuite hotel-style bathroom. On the same floor are the main bathroom with a spacious shower and the second bedroom which can be arranged as a double or twin. The master and second bedrooms have ceiling fans, but the house is naturally cool thanks to its thick stone walls. Evenings tend to be pleasant and chilled, meaning it's rarely too hot and sleeping is usually a pleasure all summer long. On the lower ground floor you can find the newly converted cellar, which boasts a living area, bathroom with shower, utility room and a cosy, charming double bedroom (photos coming soon). This area is part of the main house, but is not connected via stairs internally, so it is perfect for those looking for extra privacy when part of a group booking. Outside the "cellar" is a beautiful arched terrace and solarium with views of the hills and vineyards. Next to the solarium there is a covered area where kids big and small can have fun having a game of table tennis. Castello is situated on a hillside, 5 minutes from the small town of Filicaia where you can find a bar and a restaurant/pizzeria as well as an ATM. The town also has an excellent horse riding centre. The closest supermarket is a 10 minute drive away in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana where you can also find several excellent restaurants, bars and shops as well as an opera theatre. Castelnuovo also has the main train station in the area, which connects to other towns in the region and gets to the centre of Lucca in 50 minutes. There are local buses running from Filicaia to Castelnuovo and other towns, however the use of a car is highly recommended both for ease and to allow you explore the amazing surroundings. Castello is a 50 minute drive to Lucca and 50 minutes to the coastal town of Forte dei Marmi. Pisa international airport is a 1.20 hours drive away.
