absolutely amazing host with perfect response time. first time in foreign country and host was so patient with my lack of understanding, well, everything. gorgeous location with steps down to river, everyone was so nice and friendly and smiley. had a great time. only thing I had trouble with was paying for tours I would recommend paying for tours directly at the office if you don't have cash which- bring cash! lol

This is a supremely magical spot if you're visiting this part of Belize. If you think the pictures look good just wait until you see it with your own eyes - it's even better than it looks. The location is so quiet and peaceful but perfect for day trips to Xunantunich and Caracol. In line with their eco credentials there is no A/C, which was fine by me but a footnote for others, and a bit of bad timing meant no WiFi while I was there. in the end that turned out to be a positive as I could properly escape for a few days. There are paddleboards for exploring the river and a space to do laundry if required. I genuinely cannot recommend it highly enough.

Alma del Río is an amazing house in the forest on a river. The furnishings are beautiful, lots of artisan touches. The screened patio is an amazing space that puts you right into the wild, over looking the river. The bathroom is super cool with a shower that has live plants incorporated into the ambience. There can be a lack of privacy from the shower and toilet so stay with close friends! We were two small families (7 persons total) and the kids loved the space, and loved playing around in the landscaped area. The location necessitates a car (1.75 hour drive from the airport) but is an easy drive to Xunantunich and San Ignacio. We did an hour long drive to Rio on Pools, which had gentle cascades that we could scramble over, which was very cool. Overall, this was the perfect home base for the jungle portion of our Belize adventure. Highly recommend!

we loved our stay, the house is beautiful with so many gorgeous details like fresh flowers. The garden is gorgeous and we loved bird watching from the lounge. We saw toucans multiple times right from the couch! we enjoyed the outdoor shower and loved watching fireflies from the lounge at night. We could hear howler monkeys and birds also. the house has everything you need for cooking and playing games in the evening. You really enjoy an immersive jungle experience. We also so appreciated the help with booking incredible tours prior to arriving!

We love Alma Del Rio. The house and setting are gorgeous and every detail has been thought through. We spent lots of time on the screened in porch watching the birds and river. We also loved using the paddle boards on the river and watching a family of spider monkeys. In addition to being lovely and relaxing, it was also a great location. We had an easy drive to San Ignacio’s market and restaurants, the ATM cove tour, Xunantunich Mayan Ruins, and the Pine Ridge waterfall and pools. Alma was responsive, and very helpful. We would come back in a heartbeat. Would highly recommend!
