Our house is the last on a quiet "no outlet" street on one of the best hidden coves on Lake James. It’s only a couple hundred yards to the main channel and big Mountain View’s and sunsets. Our home is comfortable and expansive. A place to relax, fish, swim, use our 4 kayaks, or tie up your own boat or pontoon rental for your stay. Black Bear, Hidden Cove, or Canal Bridge are the closest boat launches. We now have lightening fast Star-link internet for remote workers and your entertainment! A rare find on a lovely mountain lake. House is located in one of the earliest subdivisions on Lake James. We provide 4 kayaks, paddles, and life preservers for your use. Dock has a sunny deck and shade underneath for lazing in your hammock. We now have lightening fast Star-link internet!!! There are tv's in two bedrooms and the main living room, (but who needs that, this is outdoor paradise!) Life is better at the lake! Apologies to mobility challenged folks. The house is older and on steep terrain so external stairs are required. There are only two stairs to access the back door in the carport so getting in the house with a wheelchair or other disabilities is possible but accessing the dock would be a challenge. Also apologies for pet lovers. The bad have ruined it for the good so please don't ask.

Our 5 days at Jon’s Lakehouse was filled with great times. Everything was as described and the layout of the house is perfect for a family gathering. We used the outdoor space a lot too. Easy access to swimming, kayaks, and a nice space for grilling and watching the stars around the fire pit. Lovely experience. We’ll return here when back in the area.
Jon was a great host and communicated well. The place was exactly as pictured and was in a good location on the lake. There was plenty of space to tie up a boat to the dock and the house was clean and well furnished. We enjoyed the local Bones Jones restaurant and the Artesana Ice Cream Shop and spent a day in Asheville which was a short drive.
Jon was very responsive and polite during the entire stay. The house was very nice and a perfect getaway.
Beautiful, comfortable and serene. Exactly what we were looking for! Will definitely book again when visiting extended family.
This is the perfect place to spend time with your family,I love this place and my family love the place , can’t wait to return in the summer,if you have teenagers is perfect they can explore,I highly recommend the dock ,the perfect please to drink a Coffe at night

Nearby are miles of hiking trails in Pisgah National Forest, Linville Gorge wilderness area, and Lake James State Park. A great spot for a weekend retreat or family get together. Our house is located on a nice private little cove a little away from the main channel. It is often very peaceful, sometimes even with the whole cove to yourself, with exception of some summer weekends holidays.
Lake James is known for its natural beauty having thousands of acres of undeveloped and protected lake shore. The house is 50 minutes to Asheville and all it has to offer, 10 minutes to downtown Marion home of the Bigfoot Festival, and 30 minutes to Morganton.
Our house is the last one on a private road. There are a few docks accessed beyond so do not block the roadway, but you are welcome to take a walk about 1/4 mile to the end of the road. Our driveway is shared so please be respectful and do not block the neighbors in or out. Parking in carport for 2 cars, in front of retaining wall for 2 cars, and along street for 2 more when needed. The gravel turn around beyond our house is the neighboring dock owners parking. Please do not park there. Thanks!

I used to travel a lot and work as a commercial fisherman in Alaska. Spent the last many years building my off grid homestead and managing over 200 colonies of honeybees. I now still keep bees on a smaller scale selling honey at the North Asheville Tailgate Market every other Saturday and work on, collect, and trade vintage cars/motorcycles and manage my rentals. Love being outdoors, putting around the hills on my motorcycle, as well as swinging a lady around the dance floor at some great live music. I see some tropical travel, sailing and diving in my future.
