My daughter and I stayed at Brenna’s place for our annual mother-daughter trip to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. The property is absolutely charming and quaint with lots of little personal touches. It was a short walk to shops and restaurants in one direction, a park/playground and the beach in the other direction. The golf cart was a fun and convenient way to explore the surrounding area. Being that we came in the “off season” we did discover that many of the local shops and restaurants were operating under limited days/hours which meant we had to do some adjusting and forego some of our planned activities. The house is older and obviously well-loved. It was appointed with thoughtful touches throughout. The water cooler in the laundry room off the kitchen was a welcome amenity. We enjoyed the outdoor shower during our stay and never needed to use the indoor one. The upstairs configuration might be a bit challenging for multiple families as the full bath is accessible only by passing through the bedrooms (as mentioned in the property description). However, it posed no issues for my daughter and me. There are multiple outdoor seating spots, some screened porches, others open to the outdoors including a wonderful front porch. We spent most of our down time front porch sittin’ and were visited a few times by a friendly black and white neighbor cat who stopped by to say hello while traversing the neighborhood. Brenna was a gracious and responsive host and even left a basket of snacks and a bottle of wine from a local vineyard, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. This was our first visit to Cape Charles but it will not be our last!

This home is true to the area heritage of the community. As any old home appears different than the shine of modern day technologies, it is a gem based on location alone. Bathrooms need some attention.

We enjoyed our time here at Brennas house! My biggest complaint is the beds are on box springs on the floor. The king bed in the center room was comfortable but for the amount of money a night I did expect to have an actual bed. However, the cleanliness of the home and the golf cart definitely made up for it! The house is old and quirky but has been cared for. I would recommend it to others, just be aware you’re essentially sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

We loved Octopus Garden! The home’s location was perfect and the historic nature and fun amenities of the house added to the unforgettable experience. Brenna was a wonderful host that provided outstanding recommendations and any help we needed. We look forward to a return visit soon! 🐙

Charming house, great location with the amenities and toys you need to really have a great time in Cape Charles. Amazing hosts with thoughtful touches and very easy to work with. My go to place for the family trips as well as my fishing buddies in the spring and fall.
