This was our sixth stay at Travis' and Billy's serene and beautiful Matamoras cottage. The streamside setting is gorgeous, and it's so relaxing to listen to the waterfalls. And the house, with its two stone fireplaces and cozy wood throughout, provides such a peaceful escape. We can't wait for visit #7....

Great home tucked away in the woods. Pictures in listing do not capture just how beautiful the property is. Enjoyed listening to the sounds of the water falls through the open windows at night. Hung out by the falls and fire pit in the evening and even tried out the sauna! Just a wonderful spot to relax and recharge.

The cottage was adorable, and the setting was amazing. We loved walking down to the waterfalls and found the quiet very peaceful. It really felt like it was all a dream. We got lucky for the end of summer the heat wasn’t too bad. Just something to keep in mind if you are expecting very hot days that the upstairs does get pretty warm. Would recommend some type of cooling for the main bedroom and upstairs sitting area.

This truly special place more than lived up to the description and pictures. The multiple winding paths from the house down the ravine to the brook and waterfalls, and in and around them, were quite magical, and in different ways at different hours. The house's wraparound porch feels like it's floating in the trees, and the rest of the house, though rustic in style, is comfortable, inviting and feels very well constructed and maintained. Travis was super attentive in advance of and during our stay. We wouldn't hestitate to return. We took many of the listed recommendations for dining out, and would add one of our own discoveries: Front St Cafe in Port Jervis, a nondescript storefront restaurant in a little shopping plaza offering an absolutely delicious Indian menu in addition to classic American breakfast and lunch items, and imaginative combinations of the two, such as their "Indian breakfast wrap." We had breakfast twice there were knocked out. Heartily recommend the Cottage!

Travis' home is really special -- a quaint structure with really interesting and thoughtful decor in every room. We loved walking along the trails and exploring the property, taking dips in the swimming holes and reading on the porches and in the greenhouse. Our city kids found joy in the sounds of the creek, the dark sky at night, and looking for animals - frogs, lizards, spiders, etc. We had a few questions during our stay and Travis was quick to reply. We only met him briefly but can tell he's a kind host who cares about his guests.
