Romantic, rustic cabin at the base of a 35-foot waterfall, nestled in the middle of 16 secluded acres surrounded by national forest that extends to the Chattooga River. This magical get-away caters to those with an adventurous spirit. Hike from the cabin to additional waterfalls, bike down Turkey Ridge Road to Opossum Creek Trail and the Five Falls or drive two miles to the Chattooga Belle Farm. The Waterfall Cabin is a joy to us all, and we hope you love it as much as we do. No cleaning fee. Waterfalls, wildflowers, and wilderness! Honeymooners or adventure travellers, this is the place for you! Entering our property is like driving down a long, gravel road to paradise. This is the place to escape from it all. There is NO Wi-Fi and VERY limited cell phone service, and we celebrate the time away it affords us. We recommend a reasonably high-clearance vehicle for our half-mile, gravel driveway (though we drive a Prius and do just fine...). When you arrive, you will see the cabin and hear the waterfall. As you walk up the path to the entrance of the cabin, the waterfall will come into view, and you will see the falls that will be the backdrop for your experience for the duration of your stay. Our family built the cabin, and we stay here as much as possible. It is a mere 400 square feet and full of warm, artistic touches that will make your stay a delight. There is a queen bed in the loft that serves as the main bed, which is accessed by a ladder. There are also two sleeper-sofas downstairs. There is an outdoor pavilion with a grill, table and two porch swings. The real draw, though, is the natural beauty surrounding you. It is a treasure to wake up to the sights and sounds of the waterfall and creek running so close to the cabin and to walk in the seemingly endless woods. This is a place where special memories are made! No extra cleaning fee!
We had an incredible time. The cabin was perfect and the surrounding landscape was beautiful. It was the best possible way to get off the grid and still be close enough to civilization if you don’t want to cook. There’s plenty of hiking trails around (far and near), but you don’t even have to leave the cabin for a view of the beautiful waterfall. My husband and I wanted to have an “off the grid” weekend for our anniversary to reconnect without distractions, and this was the ideal spot. We wanted to cook every meal, so having a grocery store nearby was a huge plus. We spent our time hiking, exploring, cooking, relaxing, and watching our pup splash around in the waterfalls. The peace and privacy is unparalleled, and we are already planning our next trip.
Make the effort to hike to Sid’s falls just down stream. Stunning. Two other falls after that if you’re adventurous 😎. This is truly remote, you almost never see other people unless you try. A nice convenience store a few minutes up the road if you’re in a pinch.
This place is beautiful! If you’re a waterfall and adventure lover, book this spot! While there is no wifi and minimal cell service, my boyfriend and I were able to get enough reception to send texts out and do basic internet searches throughout several spots on the property. Magical place. 10/10 recommend
The cabin is in the heart of the Chattooga River area in Long Creek, South Carolina. We are two miles down the road from The Chattooga Belle Farm, a popular wedding venue, where you can have a lovely lunch and pick seasonal fruit. The Chattooga Whitewater Outfitters store is minutes away, where you can rent rafting and fishing equipment and have great pizza at Humble Pie right on site. There are three additional whitewater rafting companies nearby, a multitude of hiking trails, swimming holes and trout streams all within minutes. We are 20 minutes to Clayton, GA (where you will find the closest grocery store), 1.5 hours to Greenville, SC, and 2 hours to Atlanta, GA.
