Manuel’s property is magical! We had a lovely stay.

Please go and stay with Manuel and his wife for a couple days when you are in Oaxaca. It’s a beautiful experience! If you are wondering how to get there, they helped us organise a private transport to/from Oaxaca for 400 pesos per ride. The farm and nature surrounding it are super calming, the bed is so so cozy, the facilities are very clean and simple yet sufficient (don’t expect a luxury eco cabin with lots of kitchen supplies) and the pool is fantastic. They also have two cute dogs who accompanied us when we went hiking. In terms of food the market in the village has great stuff and they have a neighbour with a restaurant and a bar for fresh juices! We will come back some day :)

Het verblijf bij Manuel is een beleving. Hij en zijn vrouw zijn heel erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het terrein waarop ze wonen hebben ze naar eigen smaak tot een tropische tuin gemaakt. Er is zelfs een kleine zwemvijver. En in de avond is het er heerlijk om buiten te zitten. In het bijgebouw staan hun weefgetouwen waarop ze de prachtigste kleden maken. Ze verven hun wol met zuiver natuurlijke kleurstoffen, dus niets chemisch. Al deze processen kun je bij hen zien. Heel mooi en bijzonder. Dus voor een echt origineel en duurzaam souvenier koop je iets uit hun eigen collectie. Het verblijf ligt aan de rand van het stadje, maar de beste koffiebar is 2 straten verderop. Ook de plaatselijke en zeer levendige markt is 5 minuten lopen van hem vandaan. We hebben erg genoten van deze plek.

Great stay, the environment is truly as beautiful as the pictures, just a few minutes walk from the village market. Manuel told me about the local hiking trail, which was a beautiful recommendation, el Picacho. Manuel weaves some gorgeous tapestries with the taleres in his home and was sweet enough to answer my many questions. The place I stayed in itself is a simple hut separate from his home, with a room and separate kitchen. There is a separate construction with a shower and a waterless toilet (to help with the massive drought issue in the region). Would absolutely come back!
