Lovely location. Very peaceful. We stayed at Pat’s cottage to visit our daughter’s grandparents for her first Christmas.
The cottage was small but still had plenty of room for 3 adults and 2 children, the attic room was plenty big enough for 3 beds, the kitchen had everything we needed for making snacks and things. The pool was fantastic,Athough very cold water which did not stop us from swimming every day. Dore is a beautiful place to stay with easy excess to coffee shops, and great places to explore. We would recommend Dore and pats cottage to family and friends.
We do not wish our comments to be passed on. This would be unfair as our son and family enjoyed their stay at Pat's cottage. Location was just what we wanted for them. However we were disappointed when we found how very small the cottage was. The staircases, especially the one to the attic, could be described as dangerous. The very low head-height is a problem, for example, our son could not stand up in the shower. Access to the attic room was difficult and the space in there very tight. We had expected from the information given that we might stay at the cottage for some of the nights of our week long stay but that would not have been possible. ( Fortunately we could stay at our daughter's home in Sheffield.) We think that more detailed information should be given to prospective guests about the accommodation offered.
All in all this is a great property. If you read the description properly and pay attention to the reviews it's what it says on the tin. For us, the location was key!! Easy access to Sheffield and lots of local parks, farms and activities to take young children within 15mins drive. (We stayed with our 3year old and our 1year old.) The house had adaquate living space for us all. However, I'm not sure I would recomend anyone stay with children as young as ours - the stairs are quite treacherous and carrying sleeping babies and toddlers into the attick room every night for a week proved to be a back breaking experience!! My husband is 6ft tall and the only room he could stand comfortably in was the kitchen. I lost count of the times he banged his head despite my repeated warnings and the written warnings in the property! He also has an old leg injury from two breaks over the years which has never proven to be an issue in terms of mobilising, but he had trouble with the stairs being so steep in height and shallow in depth that he mostly came downstairs on his bum (and he's 53years of age!) so I'd say to avoid if you have any lower limb joint or mobility problems. Both my husband and son slipped down the stairs (no injuries sustained). The property features and decoration itself is very dated and in keeping with the period in which it was built. All that being said, the property had everything you'd need for a stay in a cottage. The kitchen is well equipped and there was plenty of towels and bedding etc. The Internet reception is faultless and easy to log into. The free view TV was easy enough to use on the couple of occasions with put it on. There is a dyson hoover which came in handy throughout the week with two young children about! There is a hair dryer in the master bedroom though I did not use this so cannot comment on its power etc. There is also a washing machine and clothes horse which were both a godsend. Check-in was super easy. John was really friendly and on hand for any questions and was happy to help. The pool was brilliant and got plenty of use. We were very lucky with the weather. The temperature felt bracing on first getting in (especially if your husband throws you in - grumble grumble) but you soon get used to it once you're in. The heater was broken during our visit. We had to wrestle our 3year old out on the days we went in as he loved it so much. There are two local pubs but only one serves food - it's OK food and not too expensive. The Indian was nice but they do do their own take on traditional dishes - you have been warned! The local park with a playground for the kids is a two minute walk from the house. The property is certainly bob on if you like something quirky, functional and practical as a base for trips out. If you prefer somrthing modern and crisp with luxury then this is not the place for you. Overall I gave this place 5*, my husband gave it 3* so we averaged at 4*. Thanks again John for providing the accomodation. My eldest keeps asking to go "home to our cottage" - safe to say he gives it a 5* too.
多尔村有许多实用的商店,包括一家Co-op商店、两家咖啡馆、两家酒吧、带儿童游乐场的公园和两家餐厅。
