We just spent Christmas at Yew Tree Cottage and it was everything and more that we could have asked for. The children had plenty of room to play, it was very spacious and beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations. We will definitely be coming back. The little village was lovely, although we didn’t get to experience the pub we will next time. Next to the pub there is a great little park for children and a football net, which my boy loved. We highly recommend, thank you for a lovely stay!

It's an old property so a few quirks to be expected, like the very sloping floor in the top bedroom. Quite a few steps between ground floor rooms, and bedrooms, and very steep stairs, so not really suitable for someone with mobility problems. It says there are three bathrooms but there are only two, plus a downstairs cloakroom. Positives: very well-equipped kitchen, lovely garden and children's play area, comfortable living rooms and plenty of space to spread out, lots of parking, Carrington Arms 5 minutes walk down the road is excellent, easy communication with host, quiet but very easily accessible from M1.

This place is absolutely brilliant for family get togethers. The weather helped as we were all playing games in the huge garden. The decor is a bit shabby and needs sorting. There are not 3 bathrooms as advertised but 2 bathroms and a further toilet. I did get this clarified from the owner. Overall, we had a great time but the place definitely needs a really deep clean, some maintenance and decorating.

We were two families of 4 and a couple, and between the plentiful living space and generous garden we did not want for space. The location is also excellent, with lots of great family activities and superstores all within a 10 minute drive. We stayed for 3 nights and were out during the day time, and the place suited us just fine for that. However if we were staying for longer I suspect the charm of the 300 year old cottage would have started to wear off, due to things such as old mattresses, two of the 3 fridges being either in disrepair or not working at all, and a general sense of the place feeling a little tired and needing some TLC in some areas.
