The Garden Studio is a self-contained ground floor area. It is part of our house, with its own garden room opening onto the patio through French doors. Both external doors have locks, and you will have your own keys. There is a comfortable bedroom with queen-size double-bed & en-suite shower-room. The garden room is a light, airy room to relax in. Breakfast is not included, but there are tea/coffee making facilities as well as a toaster and small fridge, together with crockery and cutlery. Parking is off-street in front of the house. Access to the Garden Studio is shared with the owners, but you will have your own keys for access. You have your own cosy double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, as well the light and airy garden room, where you can sit and relax, or use it as a private work space. The location is remarkably quiet and peaceful, and yet is only a 5-minute walk to the High Street and the beach!
Cosy (underfloor heating), light, spacious, peaceful. The sitting room has a view of host's pleasant back garden and is a nice place to just sit and read (there is a varied and interesting selection of books on the shelves). On a quiet road a short walk from Aldeburgh High Street.
Lovely place to stay. Close to the centre of Aldeburgh and within reach of all we needed. Very good for a short stay when you just want to make your own breakfast. Lots of lovely restaurants in the town. Jonathan gave good local advice, and we hope to be back soon. Thank you!
The Garden Studio is located on a quiet private drive, and yet is only a 5-minute walk from the town's High Street and the beach. Aldeburgh has an excellent selection of shops, coffee-shops, restaurants and pubs to choose from. On the beach you will find the famous (&, to some, controversial) 'Scallop' sculpture, designed by Maggi Hambling, and dedicated to the memory of composer Benjamin Britten who lived in the town and is buried in the parish churchyard, alongside Peter Pears and Imogen Holst.
Further south along the beach is the northernmost Martello Tower, built in Napoleonic times to defend our coast. It is the only Martello Tower that is not round, having been built in a clover-leaf shape.
Very close by the Garden Studio are the public tennis courts and the bowling green. On the sea-front there is a boules court.
As you enter the town you will pass Aldeburgh’s well-known golf course, with both 9 & 18 hole courses. Thorpeness also has its own golf course, so you have two to choose from.
If you're keen on cycling, then bring your bikes to get around, and why not try the Sailors' Path which will take you across country to Snape!
Alternatively, trail your boat here and launch it at the quay so you can have fun exploring and pottering about on the river!
Aldeburgh is an attractive seaside town with all the usual amenities, including good pubs (Adnams brewery is just up the coast in Southwold!), fine restaurants, and excellent countryside and beach walks. Nearby is the village of Snape, home to Aldeburgh Music and The Maltings concert hall. Also nearby is Thorpeness, with its popular Meare where you can hire rowing-boats and canoes.
Slightly further afield are the lovely towns of Woodbridge, Framlingham and Southwold. The Aldeburgh marshes are great for walking and bird-watching, as is the nearby RSPB reserve at Minsmere.
