A trip like no other. Highly recommend for those who want a much earthier trip to Barbados to get a proper Caribbean experience away from hoards of tourists. We thought it may have been hot without aircon but the spaces are so airy with fans that it was cool enough to get under the sheets. Apart from the great place, the beach about 90 seconds away is by far the nicest beach we saw. A few local shops and places to get grub. No bad comments. BOOK!

The building is lovely and colorful. The room was actually great as far as it looked and having what I needed but sleep was not in the cards. We are used to nontraditional stays as airbnb is always our go to but...The problem is that all the open air turns the place into a tent like atmosphere so that all outside noise is even louder inside your room. There was construction across the street that started at 6 am with loud music and talking and it sounded like it was happening IN MY ROOM. At night there was loud TV going or a child crying again that sounded like it was IN MY ROOM. And the roosters!! There is also a neighbor who literally blasted music all day long. Daniel has a bar/restaurant onsite that played loud music late one night. In his defense he reached out and had them turn it down but it was still disturbing. He also asked the construction guys to keep it down so the music from them stopped but still made sleeping (relaxing) impossible. Also - Daniel asked us to pick him up some vodka from the duty free which is a bit strange. We did it but then had to chase him down to get the money for it. That's not cool. Also as far as location goes, there is a bus system that works but the island is quite large and getting around by bus takes forever and figuring out which stop you need is daunting. People weren't particularly friendly or helpful. We ended up renting a car and were very grateful that we did. There is so much to see there. So many gardens, walks through the rain forest, and beauty. YOU MUST GO TO ANIMAL FLOWER CAVE. The scenery there is ridiculous. You also need to go to Huntes Garden, Welchman Hall Gully, and Andromeda Garden. We also went to Sunset Point. It was gorgeous. And Sun Shed is the BEST RESTAURANT ON THE ISLAND. And the service is amazing. Again - highly recommend a car and a quieter place to stay if you want to sleep.

Where to begin! Daniel, Shakti and the rest of the WKD team were such a pleasure to hang out with. So fun, so authentic and so genuinely committed to making you feel like a part of their family. We felt like we could be ourselves and really unwind, whether we were partying on a beach with the crew or just enjoying beers and great conversation with Daniel on the rooftop terrace. We even befriended some of the other guests because this place seems to attract the coolest people! It’s a great alternative for those looking to avoid the feel of the very “manufactured” resorts on the island. The lofts themselves are by far the coolest looking and most unique space I’ve ever stayed in, too–there was art, paint, lights and all kinds of gorgeous details covering every inch of the place. The adjacent beach, Thunder Bay, is really so close that you can just roll out of bed and go straight there. It was our absolute favorite out of all the ones we went to, there’s so reason to trek anywhere else. There’s even an amazing little snack/rum shop called Coconut Palms West that has tables set up for you to enjoy delicious *cheap* food and ice cold beers or rum punch. There’s not many places to eat late in the area, but Daniel often hosts dinners with amazing local chefs. There’s also big grocery stores 5-10 minutes away by bus in either direction, I do recommend stocking up on essentials like breakfast goods, snacks and some beers to enjoy upstairs after the sun sets. Last but not least, be sure to ask for a tour from Wayne early on in your trip! Awesome local guide who will happily spend a day taking you all over the island and showing you the true beauty of Barbados for a very reasonable price. He took us to so many cool stops, including several high points with GORGEOUS views and some really delicious snack shops we would’ve never found on our own. We would stay here again if we go back, no question. Missing you and Shakti already, Daniel!

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt bei Danny. Die Lofts bzw. das ganze Haus sind wirklich sehr speziell und jedes Detail mit Liebe und Sorgfalt ausgesucht. Es sind große, hohe und luftige Räumlichkeiten, sauber und mit allem, was man braucht. Extrawünsche, zB ein 2. Bett, sind kein Problem. Auch alleine kann man dort wunderbar seinen Urlaub verbringen. Wenn man möchte, findet man leicht Anschluss, mit anderen Urlaubern oder Locals. Ich würde wieder dort wohnen.

Danny’s place was exactly what we needed to relax & have a stress free week. The bed was comfortable & the room was clean with a full kitchen. Across the street is a bus stop, we used Reggae bus which was great. A short ride to the grocery store in Holetown & we had what we needed to spend the day on the beach. We wanted to stay close to the beach & WkD was perfect! A few minutes walk down a street & then a short path to the most beautiful beach. Reeds Cove has calm waters to swim, warm sand in the sun & shade to cool off under. The lovely lady on the corner near the road makes good piña colada’s & will bring it to you on the beach. The people of Barbados were very nice & friendly! Wayne started as our transportation from the airport and ended as our friend. He took us on a wonderful tour of the island! We were able to eat at the WKd bar open on Saturday nights. Danny’s olive bread & hummus were amazing! Would definitely stay at Danny’s place again! We stayed in the red room & would stay again!
