This was our family’s second trip to Kangaroo Island and coming back to stay at Strandmarken again was a big part of our decision to return. Anja is a warm and welcoming host who answered all our questions and offered helpful local info to make the most of our holiday. Strandmarken is a wonderful place to stay. It’s clean and cosy and feels like a real home. The beach is 2 minutes from the front door and while it was very early spring, we didn’t see anyone else on the beach during our trips down to the sand. The location is great for getting all around K.I. and our children were delighted when two kangaroos came right up to the front door to have some brekkie with the special feed Anja keeps in the house for them. Highly recommend, we’ll definitely be back again to discover more of K.I. whilst staying at Strandmarken.
World class location and accommodation from Anja, highly recommend this to anyone visiting KI. The beach is 200m away and we had it practically to ourselves. Our daughter really appreciated the toys in the kids room whilst small touches like the bottle of wine left for us at check in was greatly appreciated. Thank you Anja and family!
This is a really lovely beach house. We stayed for 5 days, the house has everything you need and is so close to the local beach. The bath on the hill was a big hit with some of our group and a great way to enjoy a relaxing evening after long days of site seeing .

My husband and i have two grown up children who still live at home while they are studying. We have very strong family values and our children still come on holidays with us occasionally as we enjoy each others company. My husband and I have a German background and have lived in the Adelaide Hills for over 30 years. We love travelling and going to Kangaroo Island as much as we can as it is the best place for us to relax. We have a sailing boat which we often use to get over there. I am a speech pathologist and it is my passion to make a difference in a person's life in order for them to get the most out of their life. I love being creative and producing things that come from the beach. My husband is an electrician/ builder which is very handy as we do most things ourselves. I believe that we show great respect for other people's places and expect the same of them. We try to think of everything to make our holiday house on Kangaroo island an amazing experience for everyone.
