The place is nice and you get what you pay for. The location is amazing for watching bird life and Norma is extremely friendly and welcoming.

Ruby hotal is wonderful place, where can watch exotic birds while breakfast. Norma is very great person and friendly. She is always willing to help you. I'm sure that return.

Other than the kitchen this is a great find. Amazing views, spectacular birdwatching. Great location, cozy bed, hot shower. Norma was sweet as cam be. Cant beat the price. Great place to stay in Mindo

I spent three weeks staying at Rubby's Hostal. During this time I did some reading, writing and relaxing. My room looked out on the gorgeous cloud forest valley, and most mornings I sat in the hammock on the balcony with my hot chocolate and gazed at cows or birds or whatever other animals were in the valley. It was an absolutely stunning landscape. When writing, I would leave my door open so I could glance outside. The room was basic, comfortable, and a bit rustic, which I liked. Internet was not always reliable, but generally was strong enough to use for watching videos and doing emails in the evenings or early in the mornings. I had a private bathroom. There were some dark stains in the bathroom but it was not dirt--Norma made sure to have the bathroom cleaned regularly. Norma was very attentive and available to whatever I needed. Her family is also lovely, one daughter and two sons. I definitely recommend staying at Rubby's Hostel! A wonderful view and private space for a good price. Breakfasts were simple but good: bread, eggs, jam, butter, fruit, and always delicious homemade fruit juices! Thanks Norma for the wonderful time.
