The Darwin proved an idyllic place to stay when we visited the English Heritage Site, Down House, Home of Charles Darwin. Besides visiting Down House, we enjoyed hearing the lovely songs of wrens, robins, and blackbirds right outside our window at The Darwin, walking on the pleasant public footpaths through forests filled with bluebells, and dining at the Daskin, an excellent Indian restaurant in nearby Downe Village. Claire was an excellent host who not only made us feel comfortable and at home but provided helpful advice.

We had an amazing stay at Claire's place, enjoying the feeling that we were neighbors of Charles Darwin! Claire was very friendly and warm and we felt very much at home. The place has everything you need, is really quiet and the breakfast was perfect!

The Lilac has all the charm you want, set in a picturesque little village in Kent. A wonderful host Claire is, so easy to get a long with & makes you feel warm & welcome.

We loved staying with Claire! The room and whole environment was delightful. The bed is super-comfy and the bathroom is so pretty. Good sleep plus a good shower! The locations is lush and green and we felt very lucky to be there. Oh, and breakfast! We weren’t expecting anything so fab. Highly recommend staying here!
