This apartment is in an excellent location, close to the main attractions in DC as well as to good restaurants and bars. The neighborhood is a nice residential area and the building is classy. The apartment is stylish and very comfortable. The host was very attentive. Next time I go to DC, I will try to get the same apartment.

Incredible location, and a pretty solid value for DC. But the place was not as clean as it should be. The counters and floors were sticky like someone had partied there the night before and tried to wipe everything up with water. The couch feels dirty. Also the air mattress had a still sticky wine stain on it. It was disappointed since there is a cleaning fee, so I expected it to be better. There also were not enough covers for more than 2 people.

First the good. The apartment was very clean and tidy and the location was fantastic. It is located close (1-2 blocks) to a grocery store, several restaurants and bars, and is only a short walk from the subway station. It made traveling around DC incredibly easy, which was great. Check-in was quite easy, then I had a key and was good to go. While I did not need much, Hammad was generally quite quick in his responses. Now the less good. The first interaction that I had with Hammad was a request from him to increase the nightly rate quite substantially (+25%), identifying that the wrong rate had been listed on AirBnb. It appears that over the dates of my trip there was a high level of demand for places to stay and I think he was trying to get as much as he could for his apartment. I will give him credit in that when I identified that I would not be able to work with a higher rate, he agreed to honor the original, listed rate with no further issues. Whether there was in fact an error in the price listing or this was an after-the-fact attempt to raise the price, I don't know, but in ether case I can say it did not exactly provide the ideal first impression. From there, the interactions I had with Hammad were a one line message identifying how to enter the apartment (after I had to ask about it 2 days before the trip), and a one line message asking if I had checked out after my stay. Beyond the AirBnb description, I was provided with no additional information about the apartment, where anything was, how to use anything at all, or what I was supposed to do as far as checkout. Had I not been savvy, I think that even accessing the apartment internet would have been difficult. Overall Hammad felt more like a gatekeeper, just letting me in and giving me a key, as opposed to a host. While this was fine for me, it was a much less welcoming experience than I, or others, have had through AirBnb. As has been identified by at least one other guest, the photos provided appear staged. There are numerous items that have been removed or replaced with lower quality alternatives. For example there are no books in the apartment upstairs or down, the upper "reading section" has no chair and is just an empty landing. The main living area has only a TV (w/roku) and stereo, not the stocked entertainment setup that appears in the photos. The bedroom is lacking the nightstands (just a single lamp on the window sill), chest, and TV. The bed has been replaced with a lower quality (though comfortable) option, and the dresser is lower quality than may be inferred from the image. Overall the images give the impression of a fully lived-in, "Luxury" loft but that would be a generous descriptor. It seemed much more...

Great location and very pleasant building. Hammad was always helpful. The kitchen is sparsely supplied for anything other than heating food. It appears the apartment was staged for the photos then some of the nice furniture was removed, especially in the bedroom and list. Bed he supplied was very comfortable and everything was clean.
