I had a wonderful stay at Maria’s place. It was very clean. The grounds were so beautiful and peaceful. It was close to breath-taking beaches, Ted’s Bakery (a favorite), and walking/hiking trails. Bernie was so nice and helpful. My daughter said that if she had to handpick a person to be her uncle, it would be Bernie! I will definitely return!

This place is an incredible value on the North Shore and provided the tropical, rural, laid back Hawaiian experience I was looking for for my daughter's first trip to the islands and a great centrally located home base for 5 days to explore the whole island. The house was spotless and the the lanai was a great place to find community and connect with other travelers from all over the world. Beer and laughter was shared over ukulele singalongs. I would wake to the sound of chickens, make coffee and relax in the hammock and watch the sunrise while listening to Bufo frogs, tropical birds and passing showers. Bernie was incredible helpful in giving us local advice on activities in the area. I was very grateful for the load of laundry he did for us during our stay and mailing a forgotten souvenir t-shirt we left behind. Looking forward to a return visit and staying here again!

This hostel immediately felt homey as soon as I arrived, and Maria responded quickly online. Bernie was always available to reach out to for questions, concerns, or recommendations and was very kind and friendly as well as knowledgeable. I can’t recommend this place enough and will definitely be returning!

Bernie and Maria have a wonderful place on the North Shore! I received a lot of helpful recommendations and enjoyed the beautiful garden area. Definitely recommend staying here!
