Pam was an amazing host and went out of her way to help us with information about the local area for rock hounding and hiking. She even went with us to show us the Quebradras Backroad Byway. She had veggies avaliable from her garden and eggs from her beautiful chickens. The area was beautiful and the Casa del Cranes was near everything we wanted to explore. We had a wonderful time!

Pam's place is perfect if you want to be away from the crowds. a few trains go by but no problem. Good internet connection. good communication from Pam

Beautiful location…I was able to do some decent birding just as I drove up and down the road to the place. The living area is spacious and well-equipped. I had everything I needed. Bed is comfortable…pillows are soft. Worked well as a base camp for wildlife photography at the Bosque del Apache and surrounding areas. I definitely recommend arriving during daylight if at all possible. It’s easy to get to once you know where it is, but much tougher to navigate for the first time after dark.

We came for the crane festival and can’t imagine having had a better place to stay! Felt very private and relaxed in this more rural area, we could even see and hear cranes flying overhead throughout the day! Pretty close to town and only 30 mins from the refuge. We enjoyed quiet, cozy evenings and were able to make good use of the well-furnished kitchen. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially birders!
