Although Kekaha is not a hot tourist spot, the location was perfect for relaxing. Nice quiet beach across the street. Only a mile walk to a larger, quiet, pristine beach. Locals were all very friendly. Could walk to convenience store. Close to Waimea Canyon. House was roomy enough for all seven of us to find spots to read, work, or relax and was perfect for sharing meals & enjoying each others’ company. Very responsive host. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely beautiful home that easily slept seven (my parents, our three teens, and my husband and myself) with plenty of privacy and space to spread out and relax when we were "home." We cooked several meals in the kitchen with the appliances and enjoyed the porches. This house is further out from the hubbub of tourist locations, and right at the foot of the mountain where so much hiking can be found. Beaches abound on Kauai! Our only complaint was the noise of the highway just in front of the house, but as we were out of the house during the day most of the time, it didn't bother us much, and by 10pm the traffic virtually ceased. If you want to hear and feel the pounding of the surf on the shore, this house is for you.

It's all about the view! Located on the quiet, less touristy west side of the island (about 35 minutes out from Lihue airport), the house looks across the street to the ocean. Simply a magical spot, you can keep the upstairs doors open at night and listen to the surf. Any passing sound from cars becomes part of the calming tropical background. House is well appointed and worked well for our extended family. It's just a five minute drive into the idyllic town of Waimea, which has a grocery and several delicious places to eat, either sit down (Wrangler Steakhouse) or fast casual (Porky's, two taco stands, shave ice, etc.). You're also only 20 minutes down from the majestic Waimea Canyon, and literally across the street from one small quiet beach, or five minutes from the larger public beach in Kekaha.

The house was lovely, well equipped and wonderfully spacious. The split air conditioning, with separate units for different rooms is brilliant! Multiple ceiling fans throughout the house are very nice. We found that the second floor lanai, accessible both from the master suite, and from the upstairs living area, was the best room in the house. Cool breezes and a lovely view of the ocean made this our go-to hangout. The only thing detracting from the ambiance of that space is the rather annoying, constant road noise. Especially from the off-roaders with their big, knobby tires. Of course, Julien has no control over that, and we knew the road was there when we booked. Overall, this is a great rental on Kauai.
