First, as a relatively well heeled couple more attuned to 4&5 star accommodations around the world, but while also original natives of Kampala, our expectations of the quality of accommodations, customer service and reliability of services from AirBnB hosts were low to begin with and we approached the whole booking with a measure of resigned skepticism. This was our first Airbnb booking too. Our challenge was we wanted a place with good security, ability to prepare own meals as hotel food can get quite boring after a couple days, a place relatives could pop in and out when needed, 3 separate bedrooms, but also wanted a place that we could introduce our kids to the local scene & locals without having them sheltered in artificial hotel life, or the unpredictably of a private homes which by function meant only apartment living with good security could well fit the bill. After a bit of search, we came across this property which ticked off most of the must haves but that said, we approached it with a level of resignation because we’ve been here before - looks good on paper, but on the ground things are much much different. The first communication with Sara the host was encouraging, she was responsive and accommodating, there was a screw up of us booking & paying for a lower level apartment yet we desired the top one with a better view, all through it all Sara worked with us with Airbnb to adjust the accommodations and refund the double booking. Anyway, long story told we got to the place and we’re gladly welcomed, our little issues, some maybe tiring were addressed promptly, the host Sara was a SUPER Star! Customer service A+, her team, Inman and all the rest were super friendly, helpful from help getting a redbull from the store past curfew ... to a late night help getting rid of broken glass. The customer service, makes up for all the little small things that were bothers but we provided the feedback to her for maybe future improvements The place is clean and her staff is always on top of it, security was also very good. Pluses: Customer service - 🤩 Cleanliness Security Views Location (beware of Uganda traffic though - unavoidable so plan accordingly) Could be improved Water pressure 🙃 Internet speed Kitchen amenities Cannot thank Sara enough though for making our stay well worth it, thank you thank you! We are happy to say you’re a friend!!

Wonderful place to stay. Apartment is incredible; huge and really well decorated. Nice balcony and bathrooms too. Sara was really responsive to messages and helped us out loads. Would 100% come back

This place is cleanly kept but that's about the only good thing about it. It appears to operate more like a 2-star hotel than it does as an independent Airb-n-b with staff having an expectation to intrude on your personal space by coming into the flat for one reason or other (this could yet be a cultural thing, although I did not notice the same in another place I stayed in the same town) The apartment itself is modernly kitted out but it does not offer most simple basics for everyday living such as soap or even wash liquid in the kitchen, it appears guests are expected to provide these themselves although this is not mentioned in the listing. At check-in, I was also sat through an agonising half-hour going over the inventory list of items in the flat and was further asked to sign for this - not to mention I wasn't offered a copy of what I was asked to sign for. I found this a very strange experience for a place listed on Airbnb. There're lots of banging noises from ongoing construction within the perimeters of the property, construction noises from the neighbours and also banging noises from a stone quarry next door to the property - this noise was incessant all day for the entire week that I stayed at this place. On the surface most of the amenities inside the apartment/flat seem ok until you begin to use them and notice the complete and utter state of them: Curtain rods in the bedroom fall to floor when drawn - not so easy to return into place for a guest as they're also quite highly placed (even for me at a height of 5'10") so I tended to simply not draw some curtains altogether. The en-suite bathroom leaked the entire time I was in the flat so I couldn't can't have a shower without worrying about the water overflowing the entire bathroom. On my last night a plumper did turn up at 9pm but I had to turn him away because it was too late. The water pressure in both bathrooms and toilets is very low (despite reading in a previous guest review that this had been attended to) The WiFi signal was very weak and as thus internet access only sporadic on the top floor where I stayed. The signal was entirely non-existent in the kitchen and both bedrooms! In the end I had to go out and buy my own WiFi dongle with internet access just to have some internet in the flat to survive. The television is advertised as having some kind of Cable TV but it's only really limited to 2 channels in reality. Not even Freeview offers just 2 channels these days surely! The pool is definitely not an 'infinity pool' in the true sense of the word/phrase. While I stayed I expressly asked for no cleaning to be done in the flat unless I had requested it as I didn't need people coming in and moving my stuff around at will but whenever I went out and returned later in the day, I noticed that the staff had in fact ventured into the flat and done some cleaning (and of course moved things around) which left me feeling very insecure for the property I had with me in the flat. I must be clear though - the staff were quite pleasant and I never had anything taken away the whole time I was there - apart from the degree of privacy which one would expect in a Airb-n-b. My general feeling was that the staff (bless them!) were only following orders given by their management so I did empathise with them on that note. I could go on endlessly about many out-of-place things I saw and experienced but suffice it to say, I think there has been a lot of false representation in the description of the actual offerings in this listing on here and this should be corrected as it can be very misleading to potential guests. There also appears to be a poor understanding of what offering 'independent living accommodation' is with this listing. For me, this place certainly wasn't worth the money that I spent on it for the full week I stayed here and if I'm being very honest, a lot is needed for the place to get to the standard that they are clearly aspiring to compete at for the listed price-point.

Comfortable, clean and secure... I travelled with family to Bon Bini over the Christmas holidays and was well looked after by Sara and Caroline. They were always on hand to make sure our needs where met when we needed anything. Set in a nice neighbourhood and with easy access to central Kampala, the apartment was spacious and nicely decorated with good views over the lake and parts of Kampala. The complex itself is secure with a guard at the entrance and also ample parking. We also had daily cleaning which was appreciated in the hot weather! The only cons would be better water pressure for showers/toilets and stronger WIFI in the apartments. Thanks, everyone!

Quiet place and a clean place.
