The Bothy was originally an old coach house and stable with hay loft above and is at least 200 years old. A large delightful, rustic old stone cottage. 3 large ensuite bedrooms. Pretty private (fenced) garden and access to communal gardens. Exceptionally well equipped. High quality mattresses. Only 12 miles from wonderful Lyme Regis and the spectacular Jurassic Coast From the start of the Easter holidays to the end of October bookings are weekly (minimum) from Friday to Friday. The Bothy - 3 bedrooms, sleeps 7 (there is space to put a good mattress on the floor of bedroom 1 or 3 if this is required giving the ability to sleep 8) The main part of the cottage was an old coach house, the Bothy is comfortable, very spacious and full of character with charming rustic features throughout. It has a private fenced garden which is safe for children and dogs with wonderful views over the village and charming countryside. Bedroom 1, a large vaulted ensuite bedroom. Super-King size 6ft bed; very comfortable and extremely popular with guests,(can be made into 2 single beds by prior arrangement if required). There is also a further 3ft single bed and a cot can be provided. There is space to sleep another child on a mattress on the floor if required. The family bathroom has been fully refurbished with a new shower-over-bath, toilet and basin. Exposed wooden floorboards. TV with Freeview and DVD. There are wonderful views of the village and countryside from this room. Bedroom 2. King Size bed with high quality mattress. Ensuite with walk-in powerful shower, toilet and basin. This room has exposed wooden floorboards, a vaulted ceiling and beautiful old beams throughout. There are stunning views of the village and beautiful surrounding countryside. It has a TV with Freeview and DVD. Bedroom 3 (Situated on the ground floor) King Size bed with high quality mattress. Ensuite with shower, toilet and basin. Exposed rustic stone wall, solid wooden floorboards and rustic beams throughout. TV with Freeview and DVD player. The front door leads into the hallway where there is a door leading to a spacious kitchen/diner. The kitchen was fully refurbished in March 2015. There is a small table and the kitchen is very well equipped with an electric oven , large fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave, slow cooker, kettle, toaster, dishwasher and cafetiere. There is shared use of a tumble dryer. A separate stair case leads from the kitchen to Bedroom 1, as described above. Bedroom 3 is on the ground floor and is also accessed from the kitchen; described above. The hallway also leads to the living/dining room which is a very large room with lovely oak floor boards, an exposed stone wall, beautiful ornate fireplace (not in use) and lovely old rustic beams throughout. This room overlooks the garden and goat pen and also provides views of the village. There is a large dining table and chairs to seat 8 and also plenty of comfortable seating, TV , DVD player SKY TV is available in the lounge, including Sky Movies channels. The charming bespoke staircase leads from the living room into Bedroom 2; described above There is a private fenced garden which can be enjoyed by guests with a private sitting area with table, chairs and a BBQ. It is safe for children and dogs The garden provides views of the village and surrounding countryside. The large communal gardens are also accessible and are great for children to explore. There is use of an outdoor table tennis table (bats and balls available) The cottage is comfortably furnished and is very homely. We provide a range of guides and an OS map. There is also a selection of books, games DVD'S and toys. PLEASE NOTE; PERSONAL TOWELS ARE NOT PROVIDED We provide a travel cot, high chair and stair gate if required. We also provide ; Toilet rolls, Washing up liquid, Hand soap, Dish cloths/brush, Scourer, Kitchen roll, Dish washer tablets, Tea towels, Oven gloves. Electricity, heating, hot water and linen included. Heating is independently controlled central heating to radiators. Parking for two cars; off road and private. We had a wonderful stay at Elaine’s place. It’s even bigger than in the photos. We were two families with 3 young kids, and it never felt crowded. The kitchen has all the amenities you need, and it was a real bonus to have 3 ensuites. The cottage is well located to access great beaches and sights by car. Highly recommend!
The Bothy is a lovely welcoming home which I fully recommend. We went as two families of 4 so four adults, two 12yr olds and two 10yr olds. The rooms were massive, all three en-suite. Elaine ensured that we had an extra mattress for the 4th child all set up. The kids loved their bedroom /den, it really felt like they had their own space. The house had absolutely everything we needed and more. Broadwindsor is a lovely place, the pub was very welcoming and we really enjoyed our days out. Elaine was a fantastic host, very communicative and really helpful. Thank you for letting us stay and make such wonderful memories.

Broadwindsor is a popular, friendly and very historic conservation village, in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The cottage is very popular and guests return year after year.
The White Lion pub is only about 400m from the cottage.
The pub serves lovely food and a good selection of beverages.
Walkers and dogs are very welcome.
There is a wonderful award winning Community Village Shop which provides a wide range of very good quality fresh local produce, and freshly baked bread every morning.
A children's play area is in the centre of the village and there is a large well maintained sports field with football goals very close to the cottage. Historians will be interested in the 12th century church King Charles Cottage in The Square where King Charles II was fleeing Parliamentary troops and he sheltered here for 2 nights Enemy troops began to search the house, but were put off when a camp follower began to give birth in the kitchen.
In May 2007 the Daily Telegraph said;" To find countryside half as good as this you would have to travel at least as far as the Dordogne. The West country and in particular Dorset is one of the most popular holiday destination in the UK. It enjoys warm summers and traditationaly mild winters. This is one of the warmest areas of the UK. Dorset is charicterised by rolling hills, winding valleys, and beautiful villages. The area abounds in historic monuments and beautiful scenery. The Jurassic coast is the only natural world heritage site in England and offers fanstanic scenery and lovely beaches. The area is a walkers paradise and provides many opportunites for families and children. The wonderful Jurassic coast is very near offering opportunities for fishing, crabbing, fossil hunting, swimming and a host of attractions at places like Lyme Regis.
Beaminster; a small historic market town is 3 miles away it has a wonderful square and church. It has several pubs, cafes, restaurants and a small Co-op store. There is also a butchers, baker and green grocers, all of which provide fresh, quality produce.
Bridport is about 7 miles away; it is a wonderful lively town with with a fascinating history. and a thriving art and music culture. It has all the facilities of a small town including a small cinema, art centre and a famous street market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are an abundance of units selling antique furniture, art and collectables around the historical St Michaels Trading Estate.
The charming fishing harbour of West Bay is just a few minutes drive from Bridport.
Now famous as the location for 'Broadchurch', West Bay has something for everyone.
It is a thriving harbour and there is a wonderful beach below the towering spectacular Jurassic red cliffs. Fishing and crabbing are very popular from the harbourside.
There is also an attractive, sandy dog friendly beach.
There are numerous food kiosks selling all sorts of delicious food. Rachel's kiosk is rated as the best food in the whole of Bridport and Baboo Gelato Ice cream kiosk sells the best ice cream too.
The incredibly beautiful and historic Customs House has recently been re-opened to the public and it is now a fascinating collection of units selling all sorts of antiques, collectables and wonderful gifts.
The renowned town of Lyme Regis is about 25 minutes drive from the cottage, with it's range of wonderful beaches. There is a beautiful safe sandy beach ideal for younger children to splash, play and swim.
There is a huge rockpool area and a dog friendly pebble beach.
There are also beaches where fossils can be found and guided fossil tours take place. Lyme Regis offers a host of other activities for all ages and interests.
The back streets of Lyme Regis are full of character and history and there is a working mill where a fascinating tour is available.
There is abundance of wonderful places to eat and drink and there are numerous interesting shops to wander around too.
Dorset is characterised by rolling hills, winding valleys, and beautiful villages. The area abounds in historic monuments and beautiful scenery. The Jurassic coast is the only Natural World Heritage site in England and offers fantastic scenery and lovely beaches. The area is a walkers paradise and provides endless opportunities for hikers, families and children.
