Not sure why some comments praise Kula's response. That was not our experience. We were pretty unsatisfied with our experience. One has certain expectations based on what was portrayed on Air B&B and specifically at the very high price $250 + tax = $400 The cabin itself was nicely furnished and we liked the wood structure and feel inside. However, the Mandala Springs Resort is nothing like advertised. We thought we’d be staying at a “resort” with amenities and staff. The photos of bikes, kayaks, activities on their site didn’t seem to exist in reality or were greatly misrepresented. The place overall looks neglected and deserted, to the point that it feels not protected or looked after. Perhaps it is good for a large, organized group retreat that comes in to occupy everything. But for a one-off stay, there seemed to be little to no service, with a feeling that it is “closed for the winter.” We were advised that we could check-in at 2 pm. We planned our day to come to the cabin first before heading back down to Harbin Hot Springs for the afternoon. We thought we could sort our things and cook a meal and relax before going there. On arrival, we stopped at the registration office and no one was there. We tried the phone number posted on the door and no answer. (Also note that reception is spotty and it's frustrating to be stuck. One of our phones got some coverage.) We sat outside the office and waited until after 2:00, the check-in time we'd been given. No one appeared. We also saw no one around. We finally drove around the property to find cabin 28. It was open and not cleaned at 2:15. We weren’t sure we were in the right place because the photos on the listing did not match what is there. The kitchen in the place we booked was bright, with white cabinetry. It had a lovely bathroom in the photos. This bathroom had a wheelchair-accessible shower and rubber curtain. No problem if we were given the handicapped room, but that should have been advertised. When all you’re relying on are photos and a description to book a place, you do expect things to match up because that is how you made your choice. We called the number on the reservation. We received a text response to call another number for Mandala Springs. We called that number and couldn’t get through. After some back and forth we connected with someone who told us to leave our food and things there, and someone would come and clean it and leave a key. There wasn’t a feeling of service or welcoming as one expects from Air BandB hosts and properties. We left things, but only later realized that there was zero security and anyone could have walked in and taken our things. When we finally left it was about 2:45. There was still no one there. For the deep COVID cleaning the room was supposed to be getting and that AirB&B guests pay a lot for, it seems someone came in to change the sheets and give it a quick clean. Some other things just didn’t add up for the price we paid. -We had ONE show-size bath towel. We should have had at least two bath towels. We knew there would be no one to call to get another one. -There wasn’t a dish towel and we dried dishes with paper towels. The place needs a dishrack. -We had a note in our bathroom that we had to squeegee the shower glass door. There was no glass door. It was a rubber shower curtain. -Could hardly cut up lemons with the two cutting knives that are so dull. Pulled out our own Swiss army knife. -No coffee maker. (Please advise guests, since there is nowhere on the premises to get coffee.) -Stovetop burners clicked off and on repeatedly and would not stay on. We called to get assistance in the morning and seemed to have woken someone up. The response was to “just give it a minute.” It didn’t work properly…or they needed to have very clear instructions about how to make it work. If one is renting an AirBandB and doesn't want to be bothered, you set it up so things work or there are clear instructions.

Mandala retreat center is a large piece of land in the middle nowhere really that seems like it would be a blast in the summer and for a big event like a concert or wedding, but as an airbnb it's a weird, abandoned piece of land like an army barracks. The cabin is useable and fine, but nothing special. The beds were very comfortable and the shower is really nice. Just expect that this is NOT a retreat center during the winter or during quarantine, it's just a basic cabin with kitchenette. The hot tub is behind another house where twenty-something's are staying indefinitely, it's open air by the river which is nice but think ahead and make sure to turn up the temp a few hours before your want to get in.

We really loved our stay at Mandala Springs which we'd wanted to be a getaway from the city and it delivered. This place is definitely great for parents of kids older than toddlers because of their activities and the safe space for their roaming and playing around. We picked them during COVID since we wanted to get out close by and stay but minimize human contact and our experience was ideal. They had the place cleaned up extremely well and we were delighted. There was no WiFi in our cabin which I was OK with but felt like it wasn't specificied with certainty as not being available (there's good cell coverage if you can't get away from the internet).
