The cottage is in a very tranquil, private location, tucked away in the valley yet within easy reach of local attractions (lovely coastal walks, Lynton & Lynmouth etc). A car is recommended for sightseeing and shopping - access is via a steep track down to the river. Jim gave us a warm welcome on arrival, a fire was lit, freshly cut flowers in a vase and some little chocolate treats for Easter - all thoughtful touches which were appreciated. The property was clean, the bedrooms spacious and all were equipped with a sink in addition to the two upstairs bathrooms. The kitchen was well equipped. Just a small accessibility note regarding the layout (particularly if limited mobility is a consideration for guests) is that while one bedroom is on the ground floor (directly off the entrance hall and dining area), both the toilets, shower room and bathroom are upstairs on the first floor. Overall a lovely character cottage in a pretty, peaceful setting and very welcoming, considerate hosts.

We loved our stay at Riverside, the cottage was ideal for us with three spacious bedrooms, (two of them are huge and the third is still a double), comfy beds, cosy living room with log-burner. Well appointed kitchen. Separate dining hall, also with log-burner. Secure rear patio, ideal for a dog. The setting is stunning - extremely peaceful and private with the sound of the stream outside adding to the atmosphere of the place. We enjoyed watching the dippers bobbing up and down the stream. A fantastic spot to base yourself when exploring this beautiful part of the country - there are countless walks to enjoy nearby - recommend Hunters Inn to Heddon’s Mouth. Jim was a superb host. He gave us a warm welcome, he’s very friendly and was able to recommend good walking routes etc. Thanks for having us, we’d love to visit again someday!

We had an amazing stay at Riverside Cottage between Xmas and New Year. Jim could not have been more helpful and friendly- from arrival with the wood burner glowing and the cottage warm and spotless; to the invitation to the kids to join him on the quad bike to feed the horses and sheep on our first morning; the excellent local recommendations and being extremely friendly and helpful. The cottage is amazing - tucked into a picturesque valley with the river literally on your doorstep - a highlight being watching a heron fly down the river from the bed one morning. We also found amazing Wi-Fi (unlike the description) and Netflix enabled TV which streamed films with no problem. Also the leather recliners in the lounge in front of an amazing wood burner could not have made it more comfortable. It’s a great location to explore Exmoor and the amazing cliff hugging coastal paths. Dogs also had a great time and adventure!

We loved staying at this beautiful cottage over Christmas which was decorated amazingly. Stunning scenery and great walks nearby and very easy to get to. Jim was a very helpful and responsive host who told us lots about the cottages & the area.

Four friends staying together in this lovely cottage. It had a very homely feel and had everything that was needed. Owners very friendly and helpful, would love to stay again.
