Wildlife is abundant and we're lucky to share our land with deer, birds, chipmunks and on occasion a mamma bear or two! Come in from a day exploring and enjoy over 1,600sq ft of designer living space. For those who love to cook, you'll delight in the open-plan living/dining area offering a custom gourmet kitchen equipped with Wolf range. There you will also find a dining table for six and wood fire for gathering loved ones on those cozy winter evenings. On the first floor, along with the living area are a guest bedroom with queen bed, bright kids room with twin bunks and a beautiful guest shower room. On the second floor you'll find a fun mezzanine play area for kids with custom bookshelf, teepee and a large master bedroom suite which boasts a magical bathroom with roll top tub and one of the biggest windows in the house! Apple TV is provided in both the living area and master bedroom. Step outside and there's an acre of forest to explore, hot tub, gas grill and a double garage connected to the main house with ample space for all your skis, boards and mountain toys. You will also find a boot warmer. The house could not be better situated to explore the boundless alpine activities which are on your doorstep. Drive for just five minutes and you'll be in downtown Truckee, where scores of boutiques, restaurants and bars await. We're also lucky to be just a short drive from numerous ski resorts including Palisades, Northstar, Sugar Bowl and Boreal. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING BEFORE BOOKING: * No Cats. 1 dog maximum is allowed with approval ahead of time and an additional fee of $150. Dog is not allowed on furniture. Guests will be charged up to the full security deposit if there is any damage related to the dog. Guests are responsible for removing all dog hair from the home ahead of departure, otherwise a further cleaning fee of $100 will be charged. If you cannot trust your dog to stay off our beds, please ensure you bring your own blankets and cover them. Dog must not be left unattended in our home at any time. If excessive barking occurs and disturbs our neighbors, you will be asked to vacate our property. WEATHER / COVID The Blackhouse Hideaway is situated in a mountain town with variable year-round weather, including the possibility of smoke, snow, and hazardous road conditions. We do not offer refunds at all for inclement weather of any kind and unless short term rentals are subject to government-imposed closures, there are NO exceptions to this policy. We advise guests to take out travel insurance in lieu of this - we will not make any exceptions to our cancellation policy. *We have loving renovated this home and DO NOT allow parties of any kind or size, no exceptions. This home is ideally set up for families who wish to enjoy a tranquil stay in the mountains. Anyone violating our rules will be asked to leave immediately. * We are committed to following extremely strict COVID cleaning protocol. This includes, but is not limited to deep cleaning of every surface, rooms being throughly ventilated between bookings, government-approved virus-killing cleaning agents used, all linens being washed in between bookings . * This is a non smoking property. * In winter we employ a snow plow service but there may be times where you are waiting for them to attend to the property and you may have to shovel the driveway yourself.
