This beautiful historic mansion was constructed in 1859 by John Warfield Johnston, a Virginia Senator, and Judge of Tazewell County. The home is situated on a 3.16-acre lot and is conveniently located within walking distance of the Tazewell Main Street area. The Johnston family was very well known in Virginia for their achievements and built the home to display these accomplishments. John, his wife Nicketti and son George lived in the home until it was purchased by John C. Hopkins and wife E Room #10 - The Nicketti Johnston Room (Shared Bathroom) Dedicated to the wife of John Warfield Johnston, the Nicketti Johnston room makes you feel like you are part of history. Located just off the upper landing this expansive bedroom features a king bed and fireplace. The room is one of the biggest in the house; decorated in grand style with dark wood tones and elegant bedding. The large cedar closet and 2 full armchairs give guests who prefer longer stays, the space to lounge and live comfortably.

The only place our family stays in Tazewell! Scott is always super accommodating and the house is so warm and welcoming. There’s always space for our family to spread out, and the surroundings are picturesque. Literal storybook aesthetic! The kitchen is well stocked and there’s never been an issue with other guests and our family not having our own space to dine, with the dining room being so large! This historic home deserves ten stars!!

An incredible stay. The house is so cool and historic. Very well preserved. Great common areas for hanging out. We made friends while staying here and had a great time.

Amazing place to stay for a short weekend. Check in was super easy and the host was very communicative. Only thing to make the place better would be some kind of breakfast on Sundays since the town pretty much shuts down. So glad places like this are available.
