Drive slowly along a winding gravel lane through forest to arrive at this serene, lakeside guesthouse. Suitable for 1 to 2 adults looking for quiet, peaceful retreat. A 24 hr/day quiet rule apples. Enjoy your own stone patio w/ propane bbq & gentle shade, loons, birdsong, and sunsets. Inside = kitchen, dining, and cozy sitting areas, queen-sized bed, wood stove, loft with small balcony, 3-piece washroom. Outside = steps to lake, dock, kayaks, PFDs, shared hot tub. Numerous hiking trails nearby. INSIDE The Restorative By Nature Guesthouse is comprised inside of a main floor studio space, a three-piece bathroom, and a finished loft. There is a large window overlooking the lake, as well as inviting pine flooring and area rugs. The main floor includes kitchen, dining, sleeping and sitting areas. The KITCHEN area is equipped with a full-sized fridge/freezer, countertop, double stainless steel sink, keurig coffee maker and also a drip coffee maker, coffee filters, stainless steel electric kettle, two-slice toaster, portable single burner induction cooktop, microwave, toaster oven, smaller slow cooker, silverware and other kitchen utensils, cutting board, dish drainer, dish cloth and dish towel, mixing bowls, salad spinner, measuring cup, non-breakable plates, bowls, three smaller pots, two frying pans... A complete list of kitchen inventory will be provided to you after booking to help you prepare for your stay. The DINING AREA is equipped with a table for two that converts to a desk with keyboard tray and overlooks views of the sky, trees, and lake. The cozy SITTING AREA invites you to settle in with a book, a beverage, a journal to write in, a conversation. In this corner, there are two large chairs with rattan ottomans, an area rug, LED candles. The wood stove for chilly nights is also in this corner. The SLEEPING AREA includes a queen-sized bed with spring mattress of medium firmness. There are two side tables with drawers and lamps. For guests who have the physical ability to do so, climbing up a narrow flight of stairs and "crouching" your way through an entrance will take you into the finished LOFT. The loft is the size of a small bedroom and is tall enough in the middle areas to stand up in. Laminate flooring, overhead lighting that guests can set to their preferred colour(s) with included remote provide ambience to the unfurnished space. Meditating, stretching, or working on a puzzle that you bring would all work well in this space. Walk to the farthest end of the small loft and you will find a small, rustic wooden door. Open and walk through the door and you will be outside on a small, second-floor balcony with views overlooking the lake, yard, and the nearby house that the host lives in. The 3-piece WASHROOM is small, clean, and functional. This is not a 5-star washroom with respect to style or having an "updated" appearance but it does provide the basic amenities needed, along with freshly laundered bath towel(s), hand towel, and face cloth(s) for those who need them. It is extremely important to note there are very strict rules about what is allowed to be put down the toilet and drains. (See house rules.) OUTSIDE Guests of the Restorative By Nature Guesthouse enjoy cooking and lounging on the dedicated, rustic stone patio situated just outside the entrance to the guesthouse. There is also a small lawn space nearby that is dedicated for guests to use. Both areas (and the entire property closest to the guesthouse) overlook views of the lake and trees. The PATIO includes outdoor chairs that you can move around to suit your preferences, a patio table, a small propane-fired grill. When in-season/flourishing, fresh herbs such as thyme and parsley are growing in a garden nearby and are available for guests to harvest to incorporate into their meals. Guests have access to entering the LAKE to swim or canoe/kayak at the DOCK nearby the guesthouse. At that entry point, the lake is shallow and sandy close to shore and then deepens relatively quickly as you move further out. Guests can use the floating anchored RAFT in that area as well. Things to note: you do have have to make your way through/across some aquatic plants as you make your way to the deeper water. Motor boats do go by on the lake; it's generally and usually quiet although there are some times when it is busier and there is more motor boat activity for a while. Finally, wearing water shoes in the lake is recommended (to protect your feet from rocks in places and to have better traction). During summer months, guests are welcome to use KAYAKS that are here so long as they wear an approved PFD (lifejacket). Wearing a PFD is required. Two comfortable, high quality PFDs designed to fit chest sizes 100 to 120 cm are provided for guests to use at no additional charge. If a guest needs a different size of PFD, they will need to bring their own. Guests are encouraged to also bring their own sound signalling device (e.g., a whistle) to wear/have with them while using a kayak/paddling. (Whistles are also provided.) (Tip: attaching the whistle to a carabiner that you can then attach to your PFD or lifejacket tends to work well.) Guests are also welcome to bring their own kayak, canoe, or paddleboard. Guests are not permitted to bring a motor boat to the property here. PARKING is available for one vehicle and is located close to the guest house. To help support reduce light pollution at night, outdoor electric lighting is limited. Please come prepared with a flashlight or headlamp in case you need it. The Restorative By Nature Guesthouse is situated nearby and in view of the house where the host lives. CLEANING SUPPLIES such as a vacuum, cleaning cloths, and cleaning products are provided in the guesthouse for use during your stay as needed. Hand soap, hand sanitizer, and dish soap are also provided for use during your stay. WIFI (PLEASE NOTE) Please note that although you can pick up the wifi signal on places around the property such as on the guesthouse patio (usually) and nearby the house and lake, you sometimes cannot pick up the wifi signal in all areas inside the guesthouse itself. Usually the signal is fine but I do like to provide you with this heads up.
My stay here was tranquil and peaceful, from the birds going about their business in the morning to the beautiful loon calls at night, it truly is a magical spot by the lake. If you are looking for somewhere to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this place is perfect. If you're lucky you'll get to see some deer, beavers, loons, swans and lots of other bird species! Everything is just as Tracy describes in the listing and in the photos. Tracy is a wonderful host, always friendly and helpful to offer suggestions for local spots to visit. She is also very mindful and considerate of your privacy during your stay. I felt completely at ease. I highly recommend taking the kayak on the lake to soak up the serenity, or to just lay on the dock and soak up the sun. I will definitely be coming back. Thanks again, Tracy!
From the minute we booked and throughout our stay, Tracy was responsive and kind. The location is peaceful and the accommodation cozy. We took advantage of local nature trails in the Gould Conservation area and Frontenac Park. Tracy’s place is indeed tranquil and restorative.
My partner and I had an incredible stay at the cottage. It's the perfect getaway for those seeking peace and relaxation. The cottage is beautifully designed, featuring a well-equipped kitchen, a cozy sitting area with a wood stove, and a really comfortable bed. We also took full advantage of the loft space, setting up a few futons to create a cozy movie night spot under the warm glow of the ceiling LED lights. The outdoor amenities were also great. The stone patio and dedicated lawn space provided an excellent setting to soak in the beautiful surroundings. The lake view was beautiful, even though the weather was less than ideal during our stay, making it impossible to use the kayaks and floating raft. We even got creative in the absence of a stove, using the BBQ to whip up a mouthwatering lasagna. Spotting wildlife like deer during our stay added a nice touch to the experience. In a nutshell, we really recommend the cottage for an unforgettable nature-filled retreat. Thank you!
I wanted to drop you a quick note to say thanks for an awesome stay at your Airbnb! Your place was amazing, and I loved every minute of it. Your attention to detail and all the little extras really made the experience special. Your recommendations for local spots were on point too! I can't wait to come back and stay at your place again. I'll definitely be telling all my friends about it. You rock! Denis
We had a wonderful stay at Tracy’s peaceful retreat again this year. It was the best relaxation I had all summer. I thoroughly enjoyed the quiet and the swimming and my daughter already misses her hammock time. As usual, Tracy went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We look forward to going back again in the future.
