2 nights in this beautiful home and stunning strip of beach was not enough! My family and I (6 adults) had the best time here during our weekend stay. The house had so much character, but had completely updated kitchen and bathroom. It was packed with anything we could have needed, which was unexpected, and being able to walk out the door to right onto the sand was the most relaxing retreat from our normal busy day-to-day. The hosts were friendly and responsive when we had questions after we booked, and then when we called them during office hours on Friday, when our door code didn't work at first, and we didn't need to contact them again after that. (Side note: if you have T-mobile, your service will be really spotty inside the house so calls will need to be placed from the street). After our first night, we all wished we had booked it for a week and agreed we would come back once a year.

Disappointed. If you like creaky, quirky and crusty then this house is for you. Upon opening the front door, the place smelled dank and dusty. And it was. Our sheets and towels were old and stained, there was a dirty wash cloth hanging in one shower. Upstairs, neither bathroom sink drained properly - the main floor bathroom is located IN the kitchen, servicing three main floor bedrooms, which is just annoying. Main floor bedroom has louvre doors, lacking privacy, the two bedrooms upstairs have connecting doors. One upstairs bedroom had no closet, no where to hang clothes or wet towels. The house lacked many of the basic essentials you would expect at an Airbnb of this price, don't expect a little oil or sugar to help you out, and the kitchen was far from equipped to serve a meal for our group. There is no overhead vent for the oven, and the coffee maker leaks badly. Don't be fooled as we were by the few photos of the house, all of us were disappointed.

Overall, we were disappointed but first the positives. 1) directly on the beach, which our kids loved. 2) Remax was very responsive, which was appreciated. 3) the internet was great. Additionally, the weather was out of anyone's control it was cold and grey for the majority of the trip, which didn't help. Also, one issue that was my fault is that the house is located south of the water inlet and therefore south of the harbor, leaving most locations not walkable. There is a photo of the house so this is my fault for not paying attention. The house itself has some major issues. First, it was very cold (and I suspect in the summer, gets quite hot). It has a fireplace, which helped but we had to jack up the heat, which left some rooms uncomfortably hot and others too cold. The downstairs bathroom (for 3 bedrooms) is literally in the kitchen (not next to it) - so that was awkward for the folks downstairs. Some lights were out, locks broken, doors stuck and not enough towels.

This property was absolutely perfect for our weekend getaway! Its location - on the beach and a few houses away from the sea lions, was exactly what we wanted. The house itself feels like old school Hollywood while still having modern bathrooms and kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pots/pans but only had salt, pepper, and olive oil for cooking. Luckily, there were plenty of grocery stores nearby to pick up any necessary supplies. The beds were super comfortable and having some bedrooms downstairs was a definite plus for members of our group that had trouble navigating stairs. Plenty of towels were provided and beach toys were available.
