We stayed at the Wild Oak Woods Eco-Campsite in March/April. We stayed in the cabin May. At arrival, we were greeted by Elspeth who was very welcoming and showed us around the hut and the main facilities block. May was lovely and warm when we arrived, and Elspeth left us enough wood for the little wood burner, which was very effective at keeping the hut warm. We are a family of four and had a bed and futon available to sleep. We also had our own eco-toilet. The hut was very clean, as was the kitchen, toilet and shower rooms at the main block. The water for shower was always nice and warm with great water pressure. The nature reserve itself was a great, quite place to spend a few days with the children who were delighted with the sight of bunnies, a few bugs and even lizards! The campsite is a short walk to Sandyhills beach and The Beagle Pub. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend the Wild Oak Woods Eco-Campsite for families.

You have to be prepared! The narrow unpaved track through the woodsleading to the cabin was full of gravel and rather steep at some places. Our fully loaded car (a stationwagon) with all our camping gear could not cope with the steepest part and slipped. We got stuck in the verge. Luckily there was Elspeth and her neighbor who pulled us out. Thanks so much for that! The cabin was a bit too small for our liking. The sofa and the woodburner take a lot of space. We felt we had less space than in our tent. We liked the ecological side of the place, but to be honest, the composting toilet does produce an odour. Also the shared kitchen was well equipped, but when all cabins are occupied a bit busy. All in all an adequate lodging, and Elspeth is a wonderful host, but for us this a but to Spartan. The surroundings are wonderful, lots of things to do (walking!) and see (beaches, towns, nature reserves)
We forgot to call 30 minutes before arrival and Elspeth put down left her dinner to show us around the camp, don't make the same mistake we did! The camp was better than we could have hoped for, so peaceful and in a great location. The cutest site we have ever visited.
Elspeth was really friendly and helpful. Lodge was clean and in really nice place
