Crescent Beach, is at the quiet north eastern end of the island, the country. There are only a few houses, and the only road goes to the Turtle sanctuary, and a farm. Port Elizabeth the town, where you will find, shops and restaurants, the port etc, is only 10 minutes away by car or taxi.
The beach has a reef, so is good for snorkelling, and is often deserted, never crowded. On the beach a few minutes walk from the house is Sugar Reef, a boutique hotel, bar and restaurant, a very convenient and lovely place to spend time, good food, and excellent cocktails. At the moment it is sadly only open during the winter months.
In the next bay going towards Port Elizabeth, is Spring, and there you will find another restaurant and bar, The Firefly, not on the beach, but with lovely views and usually a refreshing breeze. They also have a very small golf course! Originally a sugar plantation, they still have some cane growing and very old varieties of fruit trees. Plantation tours are available, and we would highly recommend this, followed by a cool drink, or lunch.

We would recommend that you hire a car if you want to see more of the island. If you would prefer not to, we can arrange taxis for you. If you are not confident about driving on small roads, or are planning on spending a fair amount of time at the house and beach below this would be a good option. If you are fit and up for a walk, it would take you about 30/40 minutes to get to town.
