The villa enjoys a unique location with breathtaking views and it stands in a private land of 4700 sqm offering a total privacy as it is fully fenced with wall and metal net. The rural setting provides tranquillity & relaxation. A small pebble beach can be reached after a short walk through a wild stony pathway.
We had the most amazing stay. Loved every minute. Waking up to such spectacular views of the sea was such a treat. Maria couldn't have looked after us better. She gave us local recommendations and checked in with us regularly to see how we were getting on. We really felt that she helped us get a local's experience of Crete, and that made our holiday feel very special. Efcharistó Maria! We hope to meet again soon ☺️
Beautiful villa, very relaxing and can’t wait to return! The view is amazing. We had the best time. Great location - would 100% recommend. 5*
Words can not describe the fantastic hospitality and setting of this beautiful Villa. The pictures, while incredible, still do not do this property and view justice. One of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. In addition to the house, Maria, the property manager is top notch and thinks of everything to make your stay the best. Some of our favorite features were the breathtaking infinity pool that overlooks the sea, the accessibility to historical sites and beaches, and the private beach near the house. If you stay on Crete, this is the place to book!
Kokkino Chorio (or "Red Village") is a small village situated in Apokoronas in Chania regional unit of Crete, Greece.
On the edge of the village Kokkino Chorio there is a glass blowing factory. You can see the piles of bottles outside that are waiting to be recycled. The factory is pretty new and dates from 1986. If you like it is possible to see the glass blowers at work (opening times 08.00 - 12.00 & 13.00 - 15.00). The center of Kokkino Chorio remains pretty much the same with the usual jumble of houses that have been restored and houses that are falling apart (some with overgrown Venetian arches). On the main square opposite the church and in one of the village streets you will find a taverna where you can have something to eat. Below Kokkino Chorio there are some small coves with sandy beaches.
Above the village near the Agios Georgios church there is an underground bunker complex. Three corridors lead to the underground quarters, which supposedly were covered with wood. According to the old inhabitants there was even a movie theater. From the point of Cape Drapano there was a cableway to the entrance of the bunker.
Also, you can just wander through the narrow streets of the village and find yourself in another era as yet it keeps the old character. Kokkino Chorio has a superb location leaving a breathtaking romantic impression in every visitor with its beautiful panoramic views of Souda Bay and the imposing views of the White Mountains.
THE AREA
Vraskos beach (500metres): Vraskos beach is formed at the exit of a short narrow gorge. The sea bottom is quite rocky and has sand in places. From our villa there is a wild stony pathway that is off property limits and leads to this beautiful isolated beach.
Almyrida beach (3.5km): Two sandy beaches separated by a rocky peninsula. The larger has good facilities (sun beds, sea sport activities, fish restaurants, cafes) and shallow transparent waters. Ideal for families or crowd seekers.
Kalyves beach (7km): sun beds & sandy beach, restaurants, not exposed to wind, beach volley.
Kiani Akti or Blue Beach (1km after Kalyves): Long quiet beach with sun beds and small canteens for drinks and snacks. In the middle of the beach is the exit of river Kiliaris, transferring water from the top of the White Mountains and warm water lovers, beware!
Kera (6km): Sandy beach between Kalyves and Almyrida which is formed at the end of a green hill. As it is not organised, it is ideal for visitors that prefer less crowded sites. Close to the beach is the church of Panagia Kera, a picturesque 19th century chapel which was built in the site of an older monastery. Follow the concrete-paved road between Kalyves and Almyrida leading to the beach after 500m.
Koutalas (1.5km): Isolated and unspoilt beach, close to the edge of Cape Drepano with interesting cave formations, like the Elephantsí Caveí. Make sure that you have all the necessities, such as shade, food and water. To get there you should follow the road leading north from the village Kokkino Chorio to the Drepano Cape and then follow the road to Faros. About 700m further north, you will see the sign to Koutalas. From there a very good dirt track leads directly on the beach.
Ombrogialos (5km): Small rocky bay with green and blue deep waters between Paleloni and Kefalas. Actually it consists of a dock, used for diving and sunbathing. The sea around the Ombrogialos is ideal for snorkeling and windsurfing. Above the dock is a fish tavern, popular to sea divers. You can access the beach by car through the asphalt road that starts from Paleloni.
