A place where you can feel like visiting a friends country house. There is a really nice personal touch and also you can feel very comfy. You can feel really relaxed and enjoy the nature around. It is in a very silent place and next to a river Dubna, where you can take a swim after sauna.

We left the property two days early due to mice infestation. Mice was everywhere on the first floor (including kitchen) and even found it’s way into our suitcases. We took multiple videos and pictures of mice running around on the first floor and mice droppings in the pullout couch. It was unsafe to stay from pure hygiene reasons so we left. The host was in denial and did not offer much help apart from trying to convince us that the problem was with us for being “too sensitive” to mice. She made it sound that mice is to be expected in the country setting. It’s not. The house is in a beautiful setting close to the river and with lovely views. It is also right across the road from the cow posture and as most know, flies follow the cows would it be Latvia, Australia or any other country. Needless to say the house was full of flies. No screens on any of the windows except the upstairs bedroom’s door. We were handed fly swatters upon entering the house. No flytraps or any other means to defeat flies were present at the house. With the extreme heat we had to open the windows and flies were everywhere nonstop. Being outside was challenging as well due to proximity to the posture and ever present flies. Flies are normal in Latvia. However this amount of flies only exist when one is near livestock. So be aware of that when you pick a country house to rent. The house was not a true rental. It’s someone’s house with their “stuff” everywhere. No closet space available to the guests. Personal items in the fridge etc. For those with elders or little children, the stairs to the second floor are very steep. As my daughter put it, they were not stairs, more like a ladder. Steepness makes it impossible to bring one’s luggage up there. Most beds are on the said second floor. The host continued to harass us after we left the property about our “over sensitivity” to vermin and pests with apparent intent to change our minds about whether mice in a living space is acceptable or not. This was very unpleasant experience for our family due to hostility we experienced as opposed to expected hospitality.

My 4 people family felt like at home. This place is a real countryside house, and the river is priceless as during our stay temperature rised up to 30 degrees C. We had all we could possibly need for the stay. Would recommend and would return back. Staircase to second floor is rather steep but even my almost two years old got into practice of climbing it.
