The best beach getaway for a bush family. To walk into a spacious home totally fitted out for children was such a relief. The view from lounge room and sun room of the mountain and escarpment was so refreshing and unique. A lovely easy walk down a quiet street to the beach. Cute little coffee shop 100m away. John was so helpful and willing to share all he could. Totally recommend

We had a great week in Austinmer. The location is quiet and suited us very well with the beach and cafe a short, easy walk from the house. We made good use of the lovely ocean pools and enjoyed exploring the rocks. The living and TV areas of the house are spacious and comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped with generous supplies. A number of times we found ourselvelves sitting on the small back deck looking up at the escarpment and watching the changes in the weather. We appreciated the air-conditioning for the bedrooms and TV room as we had several very humid hot days. The bedroom we slept in is obviously the guestroom rather than the main bedroom. The bed was very low and rather firm. There were no bedside tables or lamps, which was a significant inconvenience for us, and the clothes storage was completely inadequate for a 7 night stay, we ended up laying out the contents of our suitcase onto the bed in one of the other rooms and dressing from there. John was quick to respond to messages, and it was nice that he checked in with us to make sure we had found everything we needed. Overall, our stay was a happy one and we appreciated the midday checkout. We recommend The Perfect Family Beachside Retreat.

Lovely kid friendly home with wonderful outlook up to the escarpment. Large separate living and play areas which were ideal for our family. The house had all the comforts of home which made it an easy holiday for our family of five. Easy walk to the beach and plenty of other things to do within a short drive. We didn’t have the best weather but thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be keen to return again.

We had such a wonderful stay at John’s place! We have 2 young kids (3.5 and 2 years old) and I have never seen another Airbnb so well set up with everything we needed - a single bed in one room, a real (as opposed to travel) cot in another, loads of toys and books, plastic cutlery, plates, bowls etc, and a great backyard that has a swing-set and new cubby too (which wasn’t yet in the photos of the house). It made traveling away for a few nights so easy, as we didn’t have to pack up half our house!! The location is amazing - one block back from the beach so only a 5 minute walk. There are 2 cafes around the corner, maybe a 25 meter walk. The beach was great for the kids. There are ocean pools at one end and rockpools that they loved exploring. The house is in such a quiet and peaceful spot. We loved the back room, looking out onto a beautiful gum tree and the mountain range covered in trees. The sofa is super comfy, so after the kids were down, we could sit and enjoy the view and the calm! John was very quick to respond to all messages, and he also checked in with us to make sure we had found everything we needed, and again when he heard it was raining a lot in the area and wanted to check we had found all the toys in the cupboards. It was very thoughtful and much appreciated! We did not really need it much when we there, but there is air conditioning in the upstairs bedrooms which was very effective. Overall, a perfect stay for us. Under 1.5h drive from Sydney made for a easy getaway, and the midday checkout meant we could still enjoy the morning at the beach on the last day. Highly recommended!
