We stayed in a 3BR apartment, which is in a 60''s block next door to the Crest on Barkly. This was the check-in, so just like a hotel. Was taken aback by the $500 bond taken, and especially miffed when I found it would take up to 5 days to be returned. The place itself was fine, all beds were clean, there was fairly new fittings in the kitchen and bathroom. Place was remarkably quiet given its proximity to StKilda Junction (close to trams to anywhere). We had a ground floor so thankfully only a few steps up to get in. Overall, we were happy, most things worked, although the sliding door rail to the bedroom/lounge was broken, and the venetians didn't close. Not 5 star, but OK for the price.

Please don’t book. I was ignored by the host via Airbnb messages and then had to call us to confirm how to check in, following from this they informed me that they were unable to provide the room we booked and they double booked us. Upon checking in there was a person checking in clearly on drugs who had garbage bags and public housing had sent them there, (nothing wrong with this, but I’d prefer not to stay in public housing for $500 a night). the rooms were filthy; dead bugs in the bath tub, mould in the shower, dirt on the carpets and blood under the mattress. The room next door to us had their blinds open and we’re doing drugs right in the open. We left 40 minutes after checking in and requested a refund. We are still awaiting the refund as the host will not reply to Airbnb.
