A hidden Gem. Very Peaceful. Lots of bush and native wildlife. Well provided for internally and externally. (Eg wood for the fire, tea coffee jam honey Tv DVDs books Playstation outdoor play equipment for kids etc. Great base to explore Grampians . Reasonably priced . If you want peace this is the place to be.

We stayed with our 3 year old greyhound and it was perfect for the 3 of us. The grounds surrounding the property are beautiful and our dog really enjoyed exploring during the day. The cottage is quite spacious with a wood fire burner in the middle of the room which helped keep the property warm at night. The cottage is also well insulated so we really only needed the heating on our last evening. The bedrooms are not sound proof so if you're traveling with friends or someone who snores, you'll hear every sound! Not an issue for us but something to keep in mind if you're traveling with friends. Overall we had a lovely time exploring the area and staying at this property.

We decided to go to Hillrise because it was dog friendly.The dog had a great time walking the property. At night he was in a crate so no issues with him doing anything he shouldn’t while we were sleeping . Everything needed to cook was there and anything needed was only 15 minutes away in Ararat. Ararat is excellent for any supplies and great restaurants. We will come back again as the location and surroundings were ideal. It’s not the place for an uncontrollable,barking dog that chases the animals.There are cattle and sheep in the fields .Our dog couldn’t care less about the cattle sheep and birds but saw the Kangaroos each morning outside the cottage and was going to chase them if he got a chance .He stayed inside and no problem . At the end of the stay you have to set aside a bit of time to make sure everything is tidy clean and stocked as you found it when you arrived. I would suggest if you take a dog make sure he/she is washed as Hillside is free of any dog smells .

Enjoyed the stay, the place is unique, the nature is nice and close to Halls Gap, the wildlife is beautiful - great stay
