Whithorn · 整套联排别墅 · 4室5床2.0卫 · 可住7人 · Welcome Home to Oor Wee Hoose
Stone built in 1825, a traditional village cottage. We discovered this part of Scotland some years ago and instantly fell in love with it. The breathtaking coastal scenery, just a couple of miles away, and the friendly local people make this an ideal setting for your holidays. Oor Wee Hoose is furnished and decorated to a very high standard, offering luxury and comfort to enhance your stay. Boasting King sized beds, Egyptian cotton sheets and towels and high-end trappings. Relax and Enjoy Just a short drive from the coast, Whithorn is the perfect base for your holiday. A quiet, well presented village with a very interesting history. Some very well stocked shops, a couple of pubs and a hotel, serving good quality food and drinks. Relax in our back garden or on the patio, with a chilled glass, fire up the BBQ, take a deep breath and lose yourself in the tranquility of Village living. Indoors is a comfortable lounge, with a leather four piece suite, wooden flooring and a rug. A 48 inch flatscreen TV with Netflix, Amazon and loads of internet channels. Lamps and traditional pictures. Tartan curtains and cushions and an electric feature fire add to the cosy feel. Farrow and Ball paints are used throughout the house. The kitchen/ dining area seats up to eight people around a large, solid beechwood table. There are plenty of cutlery, crockery, glasses and tableware to enhance your meal times, whether it’s a quick snack for two or a fine dining evening for eight. We have larger dinner plates for your use, should you require them. All of the equipment has been carefully selected by your hosts, who have chosen everything by preference, not for economy. The kitchen has recently been refitted, a new double cooking range, American fridge/freezer and an antique butcher’s block. Pots, pans, casserole & soufflé dishes, utensils, chopping boards, a fully stocked knife block, baking trays, baking utensils etc are all there for you to use. There is an automatic washing machine. There is a full family bathroom on the ground floor, a large bath, a walk-in shower cubicle, basin and WC. There is also a boiler room, ideal for drying damp clothes, boots and wellies. Up the ornate staircase (stop to admire your reflection in the huge mirror!) and look at the unusual chandler made light fitting, are four bedrooms. One king sized en-suite, a twin, a further king sized and a single. Double glazed windows cut out any outside sounds, with the exception of the farm vehicles that come through the village. The master bedroom is accessed through the twin room. The en suite is a recent addition.
Lovely spacious house in a very welcoming quiet village. We enjoyed out stay here a lot. We had to contact the host Ray a couple of times and he responded quickly. Thank you
Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in a beautiful, peaceful area. The house was well-located and spacious.
We are on the Main Street in the village.
Next door is a charity shop (for you bargain lovers) There is a CostCutter,
a Newsagent & postoffice, a top quality greengrocer, a pharmacy, craft shops, ancient ruins and a museum! There is also a library and service station.
A couple of pubs and places to eat.
A short drive out you will find a larger choice of eateries.
There are three churches in the village, St Ninians Priory (Church of Scotland) St. John’s and St. Martin & St. Ninian’s. (Roman Catholic)
Whithorn is steeped in history, particularly as it was the first religious settlement in Scotland, the Priory is free to visit.
Lots of scenic walks, rides or drives, The Isle of Whithorn is just a few miles away, as is St. Ninian’s Cave and Luce Bay. Our favourite beach is at Monreith, totally unspoiled, body boarding is possible as is bathing. The area is perfect for beach casting, with some big catches being recorded.
This really is an unspoiled part of the world, waiting for you to explore its miles of coastline.
The Bladnoch Distillery offers you a chance to tour and then sample some of the finest malt whiskies imaginable. The Bladnoch Arms across from the distillery offers a great menu and the River Bladnoch is stunning to say the least. Fishing is available here.
A car, a bicycle or Shank’s pony are the best ways to tour the area. There is a bus service that comes through the village, going south to The Isle of Whithorn and north to Newton Stewart.
** Please note that the laws regarding drink driving in Scotland are different from those in England. Anything over 22 Micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath is over the limit**
