Classic Vermont farmhouse and homestead and sheep farm plus chickens, dogs & cats! Join our family in a 19th-century farmhouse in this most lovely part of Vermont! Enjoy the many wonderful outdoor recreation opportunities and food and cultural experiences of the Northeast Kingdom and Lamoille Valley. Roam our pastures and forests, commune with our friendly sheep, and help us in the hemp field. Downstairs bedroom with double/single bunk. Full bathroom downstairs with claw-foot tub and shower almost exclusively for guest's use. Mostly private living room for you to spread out! The large kitchen, family room and covered back porch with 7-person hot tub are completely open to you and fully shared with our family.

Comfortable bed, warm feather quilt. This family takes care of you. Breakfast was eggs from their chickens. We bottle-fed the lambs. The very talented and friendly teenage boys showed us around the barn and farmyard and played acoustic guitar. Cheyenne "Cheye" and Mocha, the two dogs in the family room, are gentle and love your attention. The Great Pyrenees, Rocky, lives in the barn with the sheep and is very fluffy. Three mellow cats; one of them, Cocoa, especially loves to be petted. Thank you, Johanna and crew! You have a beautiful 40 acres.

Authentic Vermont hospitality provided by a wonderful family (both the people and pets!). The property is a wonderful old farmhouse that has essentially 2 wings, the family is in one, the guests the other, and the kitchen is shared. Separate living rooms so there's plenty of private space when desired. Sleeping accommodations are basic but functional. If you're looking for a "hotel" experience this is not it. If you want to stay with "instant family" and feel immediately at home, and are comfortable in a family farm environment, then this is truly 5 star at its best. We'd not hesitate to go back, highly recommended!

My heart belongs to Vermont even though I’m a Canadian girl. I try to make the trip up to the North East Kingdom twice a year and was delighted to discover Johanna’s place. It’s a beautiful farmhouse nestled on the shoulder of Stannard mountain. It’s quiet, warm and cozy - lots of privacy, in a sunny bright space. Views of the Green Mountains, apple orchards, and a gorgeous red barn. The location is perfect. Close drives to the best Vermont has to offer. An absolute bonus was waking up to see the sun shine of the sheep, chickens and roosters so friendly they come to greet you and the most lovely dogs and cats you could ask for. It’s a wonderful space to have all your Vermont adventures!

A wonderful chance to experience farm life in the rugged Northeast Kingdom yet just 10 minutes away from Hardwick -"The Town That Food Saved" - with local food including classic diner fare and fresh New England seafood, and from"The Hill Farmstead Brewery", who make and sell some of the world's best beer! Or, visit the famous Bread and Puppet Theater only 15 minutes away. We are only one mile from the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail.
For winter sports, you can cross-country ski for miles from our front door or drive 30 minutes to the world-famous Craftsbury Outdoor Center. For downhill, we're an hour or less to Jay Peak, Stowe, Smuggler's Notch, and Burke ski areas (or, less than 1:30 to Mad River Glen, Sugarbush and Bolton). In the summer, lakes, streams and hiking trails abound nearby, including the glacier-carved, fjord-like Lake Willoughby. And, bring your passports for a day-trip to Canada, only 30 minutes away!

出行信息

In the winter, don't try to come to northern Vermont without decent, actual winter tires. A 4WD or AWD not needed but will be helpful some days. Although the roads themselves are well-maintained, we are in a very snowy band at ~1500 ft altitude, so there's often a few fresh inches! We ourselves can get around most days in our front, two-wheel drive minivan with good snow tires.
