The main attraction is the beautiful peaceful location and the homeliness of the lodge. It is remote and we recommend you allow plenty of time for check in by 6pm at the latest. Our arrival was made difficult owing to a broken down ferry over the Rio Palena and our telephone signal not working. Unfortunately Monica had to leave with the boat before we got there. Luckily Jeanette with her kayaks helped us work out how to get there using a boat taxi which cost us an additional £30. Also we recommend you travel as light as possible owing to the nature of embarking and disembarking the boats for going to and from the house. You need fairly good mobility for this owing to a bit of climbing. But it's all worth it. We very much enjoyed our stay - the views and the wildlife and just relaxing.

We had a wonderful time at Piti Palena Lodge. We stayed there for three nights. Luis and Monica picked us up at the pier as planned. The Lodge is beautiful with Magellan penguins, oystercatchers and other birds right in front of the house. We took the kayaks out across the cove to see the local seals. Since the lodge is 10 minutes away from town by boat, you need to bring all your own food. There are several markets in town walking distance from the pier so it's easy to stock up. The beaches are beautiful and we spent time on them watching the birds and dolphins go by as the kids played in the sand. There are two hikes in town and we took the Chucao hike to the dunes. Luis and Monica are very kind and helpful. It was a peaceful 3 days and we would be happy to return.
